Fuzz in a parallel effects loop?

Post by biftaclyro »

I started putting weird stuff in the effects loop of my mesa f30, the fuck overdrive sounds great, works well as a solo boost and the 'fucked' side does amazing things, sounds particularly broken.

I have done this at home but I'm a bit worried about blowing shit up if i do this at gig volume? anyone know or have any experience of this?

cheers

I think usually effects loops on amps are for shit like delays. I remember reading somewhere that fuzz may not be good in an amps effects loop.

Definitely do more research. What are you blending with? Clean? There's stuff out there that are mixer boxes for blending clean and effects. I built a mixer recently that splits the signal to two effects loops. They are then mixed back together and summed to the output. Been wanting to do this for years. Lots of different combinations of different shit can yield some insane sounds.

i never liked my gainy pedals in my effects loop. But i never liked any of my pedals in the loop.

i don't think you damage anything that way though. unless it ended up being really loud and hurt your speaker or something but that just sounds cray. dont quote me on that though!

You won't do anything.

The Effects loop is simply a way to modify your signal some more. The difference is that pedals going into an amp are hitting the preamp. The pedals in the effects loop are hitting the power amp.

The effects loop is just the preamp out into the power amp in.

You might blow speakers, but I don't think there's any reason to believe you're going to kill your amp as a result.
Her: "Why do you need to build 'some more' amps?"
Me: "Because that will make me happy. That's important for you, right? For me to be happy?"

cool, im just having fun playing about with different stuff inserted after the preamp. All my fuzzes hate it there but start acting so weird, especially if i have fuzz going straight in then fuzz in the loop, strange feedback stuff going on
