Speakers for my Marshall 8x10

I've had this cab sitting in the corner of y storage, collecting dust for a few years. I gotta do something about it. My original plan was to convert this into a 4x12. New baffle, new speakers, etc. Since I already have a 4x12 and a 2x12, I figured maybe it'd be good to keep this stock with 10's for variety. Here's the thing, I hated the way it sounded with the original low watt 10" Celestions inside. They are long gone and I won't pay as much as they're going for to get them again. So, the option to turn this into a 4x12 is still on the table, but I want to look into some 10's first. Downside is that I'll have to get ALL eight which might suck my wallet dry. And y last option would be just to put it all back together, leave it alone, and trade it for an old, traditional 4x12.

I plan on playing GUITAR with my Sound City 100 through this which has tons of low end, is extremely loud, and gets tons of fuzz stacked in front of it. Honestly, kinda scares me having 10's in there. But there's gotta be something good that others playing similar shit play with. So what are some 10's that you guys have personal experience with, what did you use them for, and why do you like them?

I've never played guitar out of 18's but I hardly like guitar out of 15's, I doubt I'll be much into 18's. Thanks though.

No problem. 18's work out if you severely detune and run alot of watts. It was just a crazy idea I thought I'd shoot out there.

I'm thinking of sticking with 10's since I have plenty of 12's. I just don't know which to get or look for that will handle low end, loud volume, lots of headroom, and plenty of fuzz. I tube to C# standard.

Eminence Delta 10's Low end down to 63hz, 98.8db sensitivity, 350w RMS each, and every Delta series speaker I've played through LOVES fuzz. But to replace 8 of them would cost you 640$ + shipping new....

Also looking at WGS G10C's, Jensen MOD 10-50, and Weber Thames if I'm feeling rich and fancy.

I have some WGS ET65's and love them, they easily rival the Weber 65's (near identical clone of the same speaker as the ET65) I have in a near identical cab. But their almost half the price, I'd highly recommend the WGS's over the webers unless you got the extra loot and an audiophile ear.

I had a pair of et65's and could never get them to sound good, regardless of what amp I played. They always sounded dark and muddy to me. Only time I thought they sounded decent was when I mixed them in a 4x12 with two v30's, which is weird because I highly dislike v30's a well, haha. I do, however, love the original 70's Celestion 65's I have in my Ampeg 4x12. They sound superb.

If WGS made a Fane clone I would consider them, but unfortunately it seems Weber has the upper hand. It sucks how expensive they are though. I can probably find four original 12" Hiwatt Fanes for as much as eight Weber 10's.

I'm definitely not countin out the WGS 10" speaker though. I've heard they do great in a Marshall 8x10 from someone else. Only other speaker I'm thinking, and might be cheaper, is eight old CTS speakers from a flatback 8x10 Ampeg. I just don't know how they would work out yet. I'll try it tonight.

But I'm a cheapass so I went with Jensen CH speakers (cost me about 300 euros I think), these are the European equivalent of Jensen MOD's. I think they sound pretty good, but I never compared them to other 10" speakers so what do I know really. These should also be able to handle bass, but I haven't tried that as of yet.

I also like 12" speakers more actually, but I still use the Marshall because it's slanted and the top speakers are alot higher above the ground, so I don't have to stand a couple of meters from my amp at practice to hear myself.

How do the speakers spun overall? Bright? Dark? What amp and pedals are you using as well as guitar and tuning? Definitely interested as these are fairly priced speakers. I also notice these are a bit less sensitive than most speakers, does the cab still get loud enough? I'd love to hear a much details as possible, man. Thanks for chiming in.

That's what I've been leaning towards. Marshall had these out as 8x10's AND 4x12's. So I wouldn't be changing it into something else technically. Keeping it an 8x10 would be ideal as I have no access to building a perfect fit 4x12 baffle at the moment. I'm just looking for speaker suggestions from people with first hand experience with 10's.
