I never have fun. It's part of my charm.

Right on. I'm far from edge, but have plenty of buds who are. That sucks cause they're awesome and awesome people. Met Dylan at the Highline in Seattle when Red Fang was playing, super nice dude.emptyparadigm wrote:Right on. Also, I had to miss Samothrace tonight because of a snowstorm.

Thanks mate…I had one beer and headed home, was going to get on the guitar, but then I walked into the house and saw my wife and our 11 week son feeding on her breast…that image itself snapped me out of my funk…I ended up just sitting on the couch with them all night.Ancient Astronaught wrote:Very very solid advice my friend!!!
Damn dude!!! So sorry to hear that! Much mojo sent!!!! I hope your ailments turn for the better![]()
Wow dude, with that kind of job sounds like you'd need a shrink. It's never easy to interview people to keep their own jobs, its even worse to tell them after the interview that they don't have a job anymore. I wish you the best.
I feel you brother, have 1 scotch 1 bourbon, and 1 beer for me. Then go home Plug in, Turn up, and Doom out!
Yes…I am working on a changing the work part of my life. I just need to get some investment in this side business, then I can quit my job and be my own boss…hopefully in the next few months that will happen.AngryGoldfish wrote:Woah, heavy. Not much one can say, really.
It's always good to take a step back and appreciate what you've got. I made a huge change in my life recently, something I had been trying to achieve for years, and when it happened it felt surreal. I look back at it in awe, as I never thought I'd be able to do it.
Well the surgery thought came about because the last time I saw my specialist he brought up the fact that if it gets worse they would take out parts of my intestine (like you have had)…and to be honest my Crohns has been quite mild, and when I saw that much blood, it really freaked me out and my mind went straight to her words. As far as Meds, I’m on an anti-inflammatories, I take 4 tablets a day, and that’s just to keep everything in check. My only problem is that although its mild, its spread to a few parts on my intestine which would mean I guess taking out a few sections…but luckily I don’t need to think about that now.crohny wrote:Hey man, I have Crohns as well. What surgery are you looking at and what medications are you on (if any)? I had 7cm of my lower intestine removed several years ago. Have been fine ever since.
Yeah, the night flies by so quickly and the reflection time really helps to slow it down.skullservant wrote:Thank you for the advice dude, I will definitely make sure that we take a step back and enjoy things. I'm sure it'll feel like a whirlwind that night, but the reflection will be so nice
And mega mojos sent your way man.

Coworker: You don't eat meat? What, like a lot?
Me: No... Like not at all
Coworker: What do you do for protein?
Me: ....
Then some long discussion I never wanted to have where I get asked a ton of questions and I'm just like:
it's cool, you eat meat, I don't, let's hang. I'm not here to preach but people always take that statement(I don't eat meat) to be some preemptive moral strike. Dude, meat is delicious, you eat it, that's cool. I don't, stop asking why.

Exactly. I've cut down on my drinking. My psychiatrists said I was abusing it and closing in on an addiction classification (which makes no sense because I was just drinking what my friends and band mates were drinking). So when I go out with my old friends to a gig or a club, they really are confused and put upon when I only have two pints and a glass of Black Bushmills. It's like they can't have fun unless we're all drunk as skunks. I understand where they're coming from, but it's not really fair. Like Skip, I hate being drunk. I've never enjoyed it, and it really plays havoc with my stomach because of the medication I'm on and because of my intolerance to gluten. So although they're not able to have as much fun, they shouldn't guilt trip me into doing something my body doesn't want.pelliott wrote:I'm glad that you guys A: eschew the label, and B: aren't self-righteous about it like so many.
Because I like beer a lot, and I try to never EVER ask "y dont u drink bro, have a beer, is good"
I like having two or three pints of good beer and then enjoying the rest of the evening drinking cola, water and maybe a class of whiskey before leaving to calm me down a little. I'd do that maybe once a month. I much prefer it that way, although, as I said above, my friends don't.Ancient Astronaught wrote:I drink rarely, at most once or twice a month, and even more rarely do I drink more then 2 beers. My birthday is the only exceptionI don't enjoy being drunk, I don't like feeling wobbly, I like feeling chill and relaxed. I prefer more natural remedies for the need to let loose.
I was a little into drugs when I first left school. My friends became heavily into it, so I naturally did. I lost interest, though, a few years later. I fancy having a joint every now and then, but so far I've avoided it for personal reasons.CaptainBoxman wrote:I think the best way to explain it is that I don't even consciously abstain from drugs, they just never really happened to me

Anyway, took some doom rig photos at practice tonight. I've sort of rebuilt my sound over the last year or so because it hasn't been appropriate for this band, think I'm 90% there. For bigger shows I'd like to use the big bottom more as a splitter and send the highs through the DS1 to the V4 through a 4x12, and the lows to my acoustic 120 or sunn beta through the fridge.
It's funny, I'm trying to eat more meat and less fatty processed foods to lose weight. Plenty of protein from chicken breast, cottage cheese, tuna, etc.crohny wrote:Not a big drinker but I like my smoke. Don't think I could ever want to stop smoking permenantly but I have taken some extended breaks before. More worried about my diet than smoking weed. Just switched over to a heavily based vegetarian diet. Still eat sea food and fish in general. Cut out all the red meat. Lost some weight already and feeling pretty good.
Good man. Breast feeding is important. And on the alcohol side of things…I don’t know if its age, or the fact that I don’t drink much anymore…but I can go out now days, and have 2 beers and be bordering on drunk…and if I drink more, I will be paying for it for days!

That's exactly where I'm at, I also extremely dislike drinking before I play. The last thing I need while playing on stage is to feel wobbly or light headed, and like you it doesn't mix well with my meds to begin with (well depending on your desired outcome, I can get sloppy drunk quick if I so desired due to my meds but then pass out cold 30 minutes later). Afterwards though I'll have a beer or two, but I stay away from liqour, too quick for me.AngryGoldfish wrote:I like having two or three pints of good beer and then enjoying the rest of the evening drinking cola, water and maybe a class of whiskey before leaving to calm me down a little.
