Power supply only but if I had the option to have a battery snap in my pedal at no extra charge, I'd take it.

this is something I wanted to know but didn't ask so thanks for the info. if the battery snap is not in use, it is a good idea to put tape on it so it doesn't mess up your power supply for your whole pedal board but do you think it is kinda weird to open up a new pedal and find tape inside?

Someone should figure out a cheap way to charge a NiHM battery in the pedal while its plugged in. Never hurts to have a back up power source.

a good idea but it would increase the cost and may destroy the pedal if it charges an alkaline battery. you could have a switch to disable charging but then we are getting away from the "if its no problem, add this"

I should put tape on the battery snap? Why? No pedal that came with a battsnap had tape on it. I've opened up a few pedals and saw various findings(I once found a $20 bill in a FF clone along with what looked like a cat hairball), tape isn't a biggie. Most of my Devi boards were wrapped in tape. If it works, I'm gravy baby.

The NiHM charger was just a thought. It's alittle overboard but would still be a nice option for some gigging musicians or maybe street performers? Would it have to have a switch? Couldn't it be charging all the time?

I only use a battery in my wooly mammoth because it won't take a wart. Hell, my lovetone flange won't even take a battery.

it depends on a few things. plastic case or metal, ground polarity, are the other wires and boards exposed? does the switching mechanism at the power entry function correctly over time etc... your probably fine without it but on the messy DIY builds, tape is a good idea. maybe I'm more of a perfectionist when it comes to building reliable well engineered (over engineered?) pedals.

if it does not have a switch, someone that cannot follow directions is going to explode an alkaline battery simply by using an alkaline battery. it would be a rechargeable only thing if you go that route.

Batteries is fine. What's all this about 'not knowing which ones are dead'? It's the one where the pedal doesn't work! And battery testers? That's what your tongue is for!
Gotta have LEDs - they make me happy, and that's worth putting up with shorter battery life for.
Power supplies - they're OK, but keep breaking... I kinda feel it's like the ink in printers - where the printer companies make all their profit from. And all those extra wires...

Fucking must have a battery clip.

Sometimes I might only use one pedal and not want the fuckaround of power supplies.
Sometimes I'm recording and absolutely do not want any kind of power supply noise.
Sometimes I'm playing a show and if something goes wrong with my cioks thing I want to be able to yank out the power cord and still be able to play on.

I'm not against batteries. I used to always build my shit battery only then I got a onespot. I hate any kind of power cord in general. The input jack method of activating a battery is annoying. I usually don't forget to unplug but those mornings hungover looking at the plug in the jack are infuriating.

I use batteries in emergency cases only. Had my pedalboard at rehearsal place and couldn't get the keys from band mate because of tight schedules so I had to manage with what extra pedals I found at home. Took a battery off from a fire alarm and used that for the weekend before buying an extra power source for home use. So I'm not saying pedals with a battery snap are a bad idea at all.

I still prefer no batteries because of the environmental and the practical issues, especially if You rock more than a few pedals.

guess what, they suck. they fall out. snap has no snap and mouser is giving me my $20 back. I think rubber is more appropriate than polypropylene for this application.
