I love my big box DMM but I just can't find a way to use delay in my sound and have found myself only using it for the edge of oscillation thing. It's a great sounding delay but I feel like I'm wasting a lot of potential by hanging on to it so I'm probs just going to sell it and replace it with my Mooer Ana Echo. I've never had the pleasure of playing a real DM-2 but I've been really impressed with the Mooer and feel like it could easily handle all of my current delay needs. Plus that'll open up some space and funds for something new. Like maybe another reverb :!!!:

Call me weird, but I really like the Boss PS-3 delay with no pitch mod. That with my RRR is one of my favorite sounds...

Anyone using an Empress VMSD? Feelings on it?

I'm using the DMM at the moment, but I'm going to add the Akai Headrush 2 for rhythmic and ambient stuff.
I use the DMM in order to enrich my tone; the Headrush has a nice tape echo simulator and tap tempo.

I fully agree with this. I usually use my second PS-3 as a delay when its not pitch shifting and run that into my reverberator. What I really like doing is putting the feedback knob to max on the PS-3; once the delay has repeated for a while the repeats get really gritty and unique. I love it.

I use the exact same pedals right now.
The delay is nice and cold, simple if needed, esp if u keep it straight up.
The RRR is warmer sounding. So they balance out.

Guess i gotta represent the Boss DD20, its also my first. Though to be honest I got it more as a "feeler/jack of all trades" delay so i could figure out what exactly i like in a delay pedal. Usually I use tape mode, analogue and occasionally digital, and the more i use it and figure things out the more i love it. It also doesnt hurt that i got it for a fantastic price lol, but that boss RE 20... it beckons me...

TimeLine. I also use the delay in my Pitchfactor if I need a 2nd delay.

I find myself stepping on the de7 more than the capistan even though I KNOW i like the capistan more - the de7 can never be wrong because it's so simple.
the capistan might be on the wrong setting or something like that so i use it less (and the features are what made me get it). If the de7 had spillover and modulation i think i'd lose the capistan to be honest. i'm using the capistan a lot for reverb and wash.

the particle i sometimes love, sometimes.. get annoyed with. The tone is exactly like what you play into it so doing regular delays doesn't work really all that well (and i wish it would).
It's just not a regular delay, but i knew that. I got it and i like it for all the other stuff it does. Haven't fully figured it out yet.

RE: Particle....

I have one and yes, regular delay is not its strength.
Although more typical delays can be found.
If you use the reverse or random mode, setting the chop just before freeze and working with all the other parameters
I have found great "normal" delays this way.
I think the Particle is better for its out its out of the world sound on sound mashes, creepy robot vowels, scattering synth blips, etc etc etc.
I also have a De-7 and truth is, I use that for my delay.....I use the particle when I want to change what im playing big time.
It really is like an instrument rather than a pedal in many ways, or maybe a modular synth?
Keep exploring with this pedal. I get annoyed as well, but more with myself b/c I feel there is more to find with this pedal than im capable of.

Here's a clip I did with the Particle showing the Freeze loop, which I think is possibly the best feature (when yer in the mood anyhow)
If you use a dirt box before it, the freeze picks up input earlier. Then create a "loop", back off the blend knob...
now you can play over your sample.....really fucking cool.

Oh yeah?? :!!!:

Right now I'm still pretty obsessed with my TimeFactor. I think it's a lot easier to use than when I had a TimeLine, and I've had a lot of fun personalizing each preset
