Yeah, it's not really brighter in the general sense of the word but it's definitely higher gain and tends to be more present, even at lower volumes like crohny pointed out.

Sounds real close to a Pharaoh at high volumes in silicon settings but the voicing is just different probably due to that increased gain. Not really night and day but you can distinctly hear it when you run 'em side by side. The LED setting is cool too, nastier and louder than the germ setting on a standard Pharaoh, a unique tone really, pretty punchy for the single note lines.

Their differences in voicing are actually the only reason i bumped the pharaoh off my board. I love the difference. It's subtle, but it's there, and i just love the way it sounds.

I was originally gonna get them like this but right before I put in my order I saw that Al's cabs were the same way so I switched it to the black and silver. I like that combo, but I just can't stand looking at the fucked up job that they did on it. I mean, its like they don't have a set way to do it and just slapped it on there blindfolded or something. I did notice that the grill cloth on the farst cabs I ordered was put on really neat and the one I just replaced had stapled bunched up in one area and a few in other places. Definitely not as neat as the ones I got a few years ago.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuck that asshole.

Yeah I'm not sure what's up with Emperor, sometimes their cabs are on point, other times it seems they partied too much the night before. :idk: Looking inside my cabs you can see some rough cuts and stuff on interior bracing, wonky screws, etc. But they sure as hell are solid and sound good, so i'm not complaining too much. When you took yours apart was the grill cloth stapled to the exterior cab shell with the baffle placed behind it or was it stapled to the outer edges of the baffle? I'm pondering redoing the grill cloth on my 2x15... When i swapped the speakers I didn't notice that the bracket ring ont he speakers was shallower and when i put everything back together and turned it around the bolts were poking through the grill cloth and I had no more time before our show  It's all ready in rough shape so I might not worry about the grill cloth and just get shorter bolts and go back in there and swap em out.

Oh I thought about it, with out lube while listening to cattle decap and asking him if he knew how long the prison sentence was for forced entry.

One came with the grill cloth wrapped around and stapled to the back of the baffle. All trimmed nice and neat and straight and the other was stapled to the front of the baffle and the staples were all crooked and spaced out really weird. The grill cloth was trimmed all kinds of fucked up too. I dunno whats up with that and why they are put on differently. I noticed that the first cab I got has some kind of glue or something sealing up the joints of the cab and the new cab didn't. Maybe it didn't leak out the edges or something. I dunno but I can't find any on there.

new05002 wrote:This has a little bit of Major in the making but its got some different odds and ends. The preamp is a mix of a Superlead/Superbass but there is a 3rd input that goes to an EF86. You can run all 3 inputs in parallel and mix them or you can cascade the bright and dark into the EF86 for a lot more gain. The tone stack is a modded Marshall BMT but with a 2nd mids control all along with a pre phase inverter master. The phase inverter is right out of a Ampeg V4.Image

GAT DAMN that's gonna be SICK!

That LP, YOWZA!

What finish used to be on there and was that a DIY job? Looks fantastic, love the dark sides/back with that unfinished top! Grain looks excellent too. :thumb:

I believe that's a "smartwood" LP from the late 90's early 00's, they came with no finish just like it is.

Too much shit to quote, but thanks for the love dudes. The finish is just a clear coat and thats it. Its a Les Paul Standard Raw Power. This one is a 2005 model. The first in the Raw Power series was made in 2000 I believe and came with Gibson pickups. They were only made for a year or two and then discontinued. In 2005 they reissued them with EMGs. I guess because Zakk Wylde LPs were getting popular. It is my favorite playing guitar and the first guitar that I dropped a shitload of cash on so I never really played it out much. I was always afraid of breaking it. I loved the way it sounded before for the most part but the Duncan Distortion just seems like it was made for that guitar.
