Badass skully! I have the Beast with the "choke" and "roar" oscillation footswitch options and I love that thing, totally different than any other muff I own. I'm guessing it's the v3 SC used in the Beast as it's a recent model. What's the difference when compared to v2 specs anyway?

I think you'll dig it, totally different than a Pharaoh, more of a high gain monster but plenty of tone variation in there.
As for muffs in general, my goal in the end is to own a bunch that excel in completely different aspects cuz it's impossible for me to find an end-all-be-all-style muff circuit.
I'm pretty happy with these here, cover a wide array of muff tonez:
Pharaoh rules hard obviously and is my favorite, hands down. Beast for the higher gain heavies, Big Green for the nasty-ish heavies, Badascan Deluxe for a HUGE plethora of sounds:

LED clipping will be less compressed than Si because LEDs have a larger threshold voltage. So the waveforms will only be clipped at higher amplitudes. So more output volume and less compression
Is it any brighter than the Pharaoh? I love my Pharaoh, but sometimes it sounds a tad dark/muffled on it's own. Keep in mind I don't and can't play at high volumes, so I'm not sure how much of this is purely a volume issue.

People keep telling me the Pharaoh only sounds really good when it's played at high volume.

This is true. Pharaoh sounds it's best when it's hitting an amp that is pushing the power section. Trey, the Badascan may be good for you because it does well regardless of how loud you play. If you'd like I can send you mine to try out.

The SC uses 1N4001 diodes for clipping on the switch, I thought it was interesting, I'd never seen that before
1n4001 arent 2 much different then 1n914s. They have a very similar threshold and since you dont care about things like PIV rating in pedals they should function pretty much the same

This is true. Pharaoh sounds it's best when it's hitting an amp that is pushing the power section. Trey, the Badascan may be good for you because it does well regardless of how loud you play. If you'd like I can send you mine to try out.

Yeah, it's not really brighter in the general sense of the word but it's definitely higher gain and tends to be more present, even at lower volumes like crohny pointed out.
Sounds real close to a Pharaoh at high volumes in silicon settings but the voicing is just different probably due to that increased gain. Not really night and day but you can distinctly hear it when you run 'em side by side. The LED setting is cool too, nastier and louder than the germ setting on a standard Pharaoh, a unique tone really, pretty punchy for the single note lines.
