Yeah, KP uses some pretty basic stuff to get those wonderful sounds. I think that's why he's so good at it too... I doubt he gives much of a shit for true bypass or buffers or whatever... he just does it.

Looks like he uses a v4 Small Stone, while Dominic uses a Nano SS.

I'd like to get a BE Sibling when the price somes down a little.

It took me a long time to come around, but I *love* Jim Dunlop / MXR when it comes to modulation. I have 2 of each of these, "just in case":

I have a Faye Sing and am kinda in love with it. The expression control is worth the money alone! It's on the bass board. It is way too subtle for me when running clean into it though. But since I never do that, and always have a fuzz or filter going into it, it is one of my top 10 favorite effects ever (of any kind). It's like having a foot controllable distortion flavor enhancer. So very, very good.

VFE Enterprise Phaser: I can't recommend this guy enough. It is super versatile, and has a feedback knob that makes for some crazy squelchy, ear piercing phase tones. It does normal stuff too. If you've never tried one, you really really should. It's my favorite phaser, next to the above (though I've yet to try an Orbiter, but super want to too).

Both of these effects are all analog with soft touch relay switches. The VFE is the most unique I've tried; feels like a normal 3pdt without the click.

that's a very good description of the Faye. i never run it without at least OD into it. and it changes the character of fuzz SO MUCH. notching it into a spot and leaving it there can give you 4 distinct fuzz flavors (SECHS) from one fuzz.

so. HAWT.

*giggles*

*wiggles*

oh YOU.

does the Final Phase have an expression input? that's the way i use the Faye. as an oddly toned foot swept filter.

how are the volume levels compared to the bypass? does it get louder with the feedback maxed, and any volume changes depending on the mix amount?

The volume does get louder with the feedback maxed (either direction), sometimes its painfully overwhelming, which is awesome.

Maximum resonance is 12 o'clock on the mix knob, this usually creates a slight increase in volume when engaged, especially with fuzz/od in front of it. I usually leave it there, unless the feedback is maxed and I'm wearing headphones, then I decrease the mix a bit.

So adjusting the Mix in either direction decreases overall volume, depending on settings.

So after a bit of rehearsing and playing shows with it, I decided to part ways with my Faye Sing

it's awesome, but for my band, i need something more "funky" and not as nasal or vocal

so i need something that's cool for that funky stuff as well as for slower psychedelic pads and faster "almost leslie-like" stuff. I don'T want a Whetstone, it's way too complicated for me... i've had good experience with Small Stones, should i try finding some vintage one? (i don't like the nano)

or should i try a Grand Orbiter?

(i also don't want a Stereo Polyphase, Pigtronix EP-1 or Boss PH-2 which i love but doesn't sound the way i need)

I liked my small stone but I didn't like its volume drop andthe depth switch wasn't enough control for me, i was always looking for sounds between the two switch settings. A small stone with mods to fix those things would be great and would definitely do what you want.

I've only heard good things about the grand orbiter, but never tried one.
