sooooooooooooooooo............ this is weird. setting up the ppal acct for band stuff......... it's asking for the user id AND the password of the bank account i'm linking it to to do instant confirmation and turn on the account. i'm........ i'm not doing that. the other way takes 2-3 days.
i'm going through PayPal.com , i loaded it through a few different search engines so i'm pretty sure it's PayPal's real site not a phishing site...... but fuck. that's not a legitimate question they're asking is it?
Yeah...that is weird. Paypal's old bank account would ask for your account number and routing number, and then ask you what random amount of change they deposited in your account.

lol. yah, it does that too. they offer the micro deposit, report back how much was deposited option that takes 2-3 days, or instant account activation.... if you give up your bank account access stuff. it's WEIRD because i'm kinda sure it's the real PayPal site..... i think they actually ask people for that info. STRANGE.

The only reason they ask for it is it makes the verification process that much quicker. Since they aren't making it a requirement I don't see it as not being cool...its just a convenience tool. As long as you can still do it the old way, I don't see the problem.
I do something similar with TurboTax and my Fidelity account. I give them my login info and TurboTax downloads any Tax info necessary directly from them and I don't have to enter shit. Same basic deal.
naw. it's shady. not only is it invasive to ask to be able to LOG IN to someone's acct, it sets a BAD precedent. i thought i was on a phake page for about 5 reloads because that's not something somebody on the up and up would ask for.
you can't have everybody decide X Information is stupid and dangerous to give out online for years then tell them that oh, it's ok if it's ME.
no, they don't require it. and if they did i'd say fuck it and try to use Google Wallet. but it's super unsavory.
fuck. i want a crepe hella bad now. SAVORY.

Also, your account is limited if you don't give them that info. You can only withdraw $500 out of the account per month unless you verify a couple things, like bank account. So I refused to give them this info forever, but then after selling something I got sick of having a lot in the Paypal account after withdrawing $500 and gifting $500 to my lady so I could take it out of her account. I guess you COULD call that convenience, but I call it being a dick.
My point is, the money in the Paypal account is MINE, they already made their fees when I sold whatever I sold. To force me to hold my money in THEIR account so they make interest on it, is them being a dick. Fuck Paypal.
yah. they suck and they do all these niggling little shady things.
but it's like Apple and iPhones. can't stand Apple, but they won the smartphone market and are the ubiquitous entrenched device. everybody uses Paypal. annoying that the best options aren't always the winners.

All that up there is another reason why I ditched PP in general...I realize that I probably lose potential buys/sells 'cause of that, but overall it hasn't really hurt my dealings much at all.

That, if I'm understanding you correctly, seems really un-cool. I've never had to do anything like that but I've had my PayPal account for a long time.
