You need more Galaxicon on your show.

saw enslaved, pallbearer and royal thunder last night. fortunately i was late enough to the show not to be subjected to ancient vvisdom's performance.

unfortunately, i was in time to be subjected to about half of royal thunder's set. i did not like this band at all.

i felt kind of bad for pallbearer. there was some incredible sound problems for them. i don't really know what was going on. one of the guitars sounded like total shit and the other one sounded awesome . weird. great example of why single coil telecasters aren't more popular in metal. that guitar was totally noisy and hissy and quiet and sounded awful. i know the sound guy, and he's definitely a good sound guy but i don't know what was going on. it seemed like the singer was possibly being shocked by the microphone, which i've never had happen at that venue the couple of times i've played there. but he was staying back from the mic a bit and it seemed like he couldn't hear himself in the monitors very well. he kept asking for more and his singing was off key for big chunks of the set and it was really quiet. sound guy kept cranking the vocals to compete with the band and kept getting some really bad feedback. sometimes things would be on and sound like it was on the right track and it was pretty good, but then it would all fall apart again. i felt bad for them. just seemed like a really off night, a perfect storm of problems to fuck up their set. i like them a lot and would like to see them again. i know they're a great band and can be good live, from what i've heard. but last night was a bummer.

oddly, enslaved, with the same house sound guy sounded fucking awesome. they have a ton of clean vocals too and for some reason it was fine for them. i've always tolerated their clean vocals pretty well, but i wish they had less of them. otherwise, their set was soooo good. they played stuff from all over their career. i was super into it. unfortunately, my lady was kind of sick yesterday and we had to leave before the show was over, so i didn't see the end of enslaved. but they made it worth the ticket price for sure.

i hope i get to see pallbearer again on a good night.

I can verify that a stock style tele through lots of gain can be noisy hissy and in general sound like poo due to the amount of feedback they generate. My tele sounds great with lots of gain but I'm using a humbucker in the neck and a noiseless bridge p/u. The noiseless p/u made a huge difference in the guitar, without it was a hassle to keep the ever present feedback at bay as it would consume the low output p/u's signal with ease so that even while your playing there's stilla cloud of feedback muddying up your tone..

I've heard that single coils on EGC guitars are noiseless due to the natural shielding of the aluminium body.

Galaxicon and Drop Electric on a radio station? Fuck yeah.

Yep, they are noiseless. My P90's are SILENT.

Also, been thinking of picking up an Orange 1x8 cab to run as an extension along with my Verellen for shits, giggles, and glass cutting toanz

I've got the issue with the Silver Bell in my Emperor cab acting weird and I have one of those old ass Peavy cabs with an 18 in it that won't pass sound unless I press my finger on the very outside edge of the speaker. I guess pushing the speaker in just a hair makes a connection with something to make it work. I tried the battery trick on it and the speaker moves, but I dunno why the sound goes in and out like that.

Well mine was completely lacking in low end, and when i turned up the volume to gigging level or cranked the bass to where i had it with my 2x12 it was making a farting / flapping paper / a horribly vibrating kind sound. I pulled it out yesterday and pressed on the cone and could hear it touching something as there was some resistance and rub, and then i could hear the voicecoil acting like a bellows and that's never good. Turns out it was majorly detached from where it was supposed to be mounted. Luckily the other CB15 I pulled out seemed to be in decent shape, so now I have a backup. I put in some Eminence Delta-15LFC's and couldn't be happier, they put out so much low end solidly and project like a mofo with a present and clear midrange.

As far as the Silver Bell, what kind of sound is it making? With the 18 it sounds like you have a loose lead where it connects to the voicecoil which could be solved with a lil bit of solder and a few minutes of time.

I'll have to play around with it a little more to see if I can find a loose connection. I didn't see anything obvious when I messed with it but I didn't look at the wires as close as I should. The Weber just sounds a little more nasally and its like it has a faint distortion on it. I only notice it with my cleans though.

No probs. Thinking of starting a "submit your music to my radio show" thread. Should I?
