A real order of effects clusterfuck.

Post by technicoloraudio »

I've had to seperate onto two boards. A PT pro and an LYT about the sale size as the pt pro.
There are a plethora of pedals that seem to want to go "first", my primary goal is to preserve the original functionality of each pedal.
My current plan is this:
TU2 (always on)>RMC wah>philosopher king (for amplitude envelope)>Box of War>klone>

Here's where it gets tricky

>moog low pass filter>moog ring mod>Lightfoot GK3>moog phaser>moog clusterflux>

This is the order I want to keep these in and I really need to keep them together to ease the CV patching. They pretty much take up the top half of the PT pro.
I split the signal with the stereo out from the clusterflux and go to two delays on the next board

>skychord cloudbuster and >a placeholder for my Caroline Kilobyte

Which then runs stereo into a boomerang 3.

My questions are:
Filter before wah?
Tuner after wah?
Even though I don't use the PhiloKing for much overdrive or compression, is it fucking my fuzz and drive? Does the BoW react poorly after compression or buffer or other weird shit?
I really would like to maintain the volume swell function, but running filter with no attack is asenine.
but what are guitar pedals...really..?

If you're using the King for swell maybe just get a Slow Volume or something and put the Klone after the wah sans tuner...

You think the tuner's hurting me? I kinda need it because I buy more pedals instead of one guitar that stays in tune for very long.

I can't ditch the king, it works so much better than the SV or Lazy Sprocket. I can't afford nor really want an SG1.
I have been thinking a lot about a TBlooper, but my board has been built from the ground up and I can't prioritize my purchases very well.

I had the Pigtronix Attack Sustain and I know what what you mean... They've nailed that smooth vol swell compression thing... I think Summit knows what I be talkin bout...

I personally keep tuners towards or at the very end of the chain, so i don¨t put the buffer (if it has one) in front of a fuzz PLUS so i can mute everything at the end of a song

but in your case, that's different, because your setup is much more complex then just a bunch of pedals in a row
I make pedal demos as East Stomp Boutique - http://www.youtube.com/c/eaststompboutique

Headstock tuners are nice for not crapping in your signal chain. I use the Planet Waves NS Mini thing -- it's unobtrusive enough and it works.

When dealing with a larger setup, I focus first on whether the fuzz is happy where it is and go from there.
Actually I do that regardless..

welp, look at the frequency response characteristics of the two filters. then ascertain how each response curve effects units operating after the first filter and then the other filter on down the chain.

i always keep the philosophers tone
behind the dirt im usin it with
i rarely use it by itself
cause i rarely dont have dirt on
so i go
tuner>meatheadclone>od>PT>badascan
thats where im at right now
badascan usually runs on its own
or with the od
meathead,od, pt for feedbacky sustaininsane thunder
pt always ends up after dirt i use it with though
ive had it up front for a while
i like it better behind
tuner first imo
