best for garage rock ?

Post by spacefuzz »

I have several drone projects and a crust band and am now joining a teengenerate/jay reatard type of garage band. My janus pedal cant give me the lofi fuzzy tones I need. I was thinking a demo tape fuzz or even just a overdrive like the dwarfcraft internet to get my guitar wolf on. Is anyone on here in a garage type of band and what do you use?

Fuzzrite would also great but I find EQing right and a bit of amp drive can be perfect.

Oh man, Teengenerate. One of my favorite bands ever.
I fucking love you.

I believe they were Sovtek enthusiasts.

Turn your amp way up.

Feels like the essence of "garage rock" to me is FUCK PEDALS, LET'S JUST PLAY.

I was under the same impression, dime all the knobs on your amp and let her eat.

Yeah, I crank my amp up, but it still sounds sorta flat to me. I need some boost. I'm looking at the demo tape fuzz, super hard on and dwarfcraft at the moment. Teengenerate is one of my all time favs as well. get action is fucking perfect. I even like the queers cover.

I'll have to look up Teengenrate if you guys are so balls out on 'em.

I feel like you can't get any easier or trashier than a RAT for garage rock. And then you set it on top of your amp out of reach so it's like you don't even have a pedal.

Or get a cheap old tube amp and poke some holes in the speaker.

I like cranked amp and a treble booster, or muff, or rat. Disaster Fuzz I used to have was trashy as FUCK, and they're pretty cheap.

Recent discovery: English Muff'n with two JJ 12au7 tubes in it, gain cranked, is perfect for garage rockin. Turn on nasty fuzz for nasty leads.

But yeah recently bought two JJ 12au7s and I love shoving high volume boosts and dirts into low gain tubes.

I'd get one of those myself if I didn't already have 5 TASCAM 4-tracks between me and my bandmates!

SS/BS Hawk or Sparkle Motion, maybe? Both can bring the lo-fi and the Sparkle has the treble-y thing going on.
