Looper plans and powering suggestions

Road Rage 10 channel looper, no extras

I've got a DC brick on order, the new Dunlop model. Would this 10 channel be a decent suggestion to make the signal nice and easy to access? They have options for extras on the board such as A/B ins outs, tuner mute and master bypass but at present time I'm only running 9 standard pedals and a Strymon Mobius and i dont think i need any of that.

This is all gonna be running through a small combo amp, i plan to setup the board then replace the small Peavey i have with a stack amp and head unit.

My board will be running a Modtone tuner, Rogue Vintage Compressor, Boss MT-2 Metalzone, Blackout Effectors - Seriously Special Twosome, MXR King Ten EQ, Rogue Analog Delay, Strymon Mobius, Pigtronix Class A boost, Boss Noise Gate in that order, (The noise gate will be replaced by a eventide h9 possibly as i'm pretty sure i shouldn't need a gate with the looper and current pedal chain setup)

Note: I have plans to run a midi controller placed on the other side of the pedalboard to control the Mobius

planning on whacking the loop pedal right on the end of the board and attaching it via clips, drilling relevant holes for cables through front lip of box

Well, all the footswitches will be next to each other, so probably. I would even consider getting a lesser amount of channels if you wanted to keep some things grouped together. That way you could engage/disengage multiple pedals at once and save some space.

I was just going on the fact that the brick has 10 so isolating all the pedals seperately was my logic, but smaller boards would give the the option to put it inside rather then bolting it to the front. Also am i correct to assume that multiple loops can be activated at same time?

In the case of that looper there, I'm 99.99% certain each loop is independent of each other / you could hit more than one loop at once.
But one can never be completely certain of anything, now can they... :wha?:

Why are you buying the looper??? You have 9 pedals and a 10 channel BP looper seems silly... :idk:

i have a few more pedals i just plan to run the one power brick for now. its mainly futureproofing since a channel with 4 switches costs about half as much, i also thought that if u had everything in a individual loop it would provide cleanest signal, also centralised on the bottom of the board rather then tap dancing on top of the pedals

im also very new to fx looping and pedalboard construction so it could just be me being a noob, ultimately i plan on getting another dunlop brick and adding pedals to it

judging by the responses so far, would you go for a small size board at 4-7 channels or just ditch the idea completely

I don't think you need a smaller board in general, but you could probably get away with 5 channels. Could run your tuner before the looper, dirt and eq could have their own loop, booster could be after the looper, etc.

But that's just me. If you want everything to have it's own individual loop with all the switches in one place, go for the 10 channels.

Excellent point. One separate loop for every single pedal is great if you need HYPERTRUEBYPASS, but you might also consider that you're going to be doing just as much tap-dancing if you didn't have the looper.

I haven't experimented too much with them, and the most I've had is a two-channel looper, but it's great having things separated into fuzzes, delays, modulation, etc. Depends on if you're going to be doing a lot of live stuff (maybe better to have a smaller amount of "type"-loops like I just described) or if you're just wanting everything to be separate for home use. Or both. I don't know.

But it's great being able to arm like a phaser, delay, and reverb, and then kick it on all at once.

I have tried the TB looper thing and was very dissapointed
Looking over the pedal list none of them seem to have bad buffers in them (most are true bypass)
That looper will not let you activate more than one chain at a time and will be essentially the same as stepping on pedals, it's just going to use twice as many cables

the board itself looks awesome, and if you really want a looper a tuner out and some type of stereo capabilities may be a good idea
putting that strymon in straight up mono seems limiting

I think people generally recommend against the Dunlop power supplies because the outputs aren't isolated, making them not that much different from a Onespot, which is like half the price. Not sure if new ones have changed this.

to the best of my knowledge still not isolated
but it does have 18v for the kfk although the kfk comes with a power supply

the advantage of the TB loops to me is to group several effects together and turn them on at once
one loop per effect especially for stuff is that is already truebypass makes minimal sense

If you're planning on running midi in your rig, why not look into the DMC Disaster Area loopers? They've got a boat load of options along with midi sync
