Help me choose a bass?

Post by Dexterecus »

I've been thinking about getting a second bass. I've been playing my Fender MiM jazz for quite a while now.
These are some 2ndhand basses I've found which interest me, which one would you pick?

1st:

Lefty handmade Precision Bass
made by a luthier from the Netherlands.
Alder body with flamed maple neck and brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
Schaller tuners with hipshot D-tuner. Pickup is a Seymour Duncan SPB-1.

Price is 500€

2nd:

Warwick Corvette $$

Up for sale is a 2005 Warwick Corvette $$ in Nirvana black. This is a wonderful bass with a very fast neck and a huge range of tonal ability. It comes with Warwick Straplocks and a Hiscox hardcase.

There is currently a ramp over the pickups that I installed. This is held on by the screws that attach the pickups so it is very easy to remove with absolutely no damage to the bass, I can even remove this beforehand if desired by the buyer.

The reason I installed it is because it allows a more even pluck when playing fingerstyle and allows slightly faster play. Reason for sale is a lack of finances!

More pictures available on request.
Price is 680 €,

3d:

1983 Japanese Fender Precision Bass ('62 style)

JV Serial number

White with red tortoise pickguard.

550 Euros plus shipping

What would you do? :idk:
You just need a passive bass, a tube amp, and a metric ton of marijuana and Sabbath worship.

Handmade P-bass with the hipshot! It's Dutch, for crying out loud - you should get a contact high just playing the thing!

+1 and those SPB-1's will give you a warmer sound than the Jap, so it'll be more different from your J bass so you'll have a larger range of tones :thumb:

I chose the Japanese P-bass, but thats because I'm simple and the custom one sounds too fancy for my tastes.

Japanese P-bass

Cuz they look pretty crazylicous.
(And because when I was at a Meat Puppets concert, Curt and Chris [who had an old P-Bass] both started headbanging right above my head. P.S. I was right inbetween both monitors in the front  )

If the build quality is the same on all then I’d probably go with the Dutch one simply because of the Hipshot and pickup upgrade.
The Hipshot adds a bit of versatility and to me the Duncan is a nicer sounding pickup than the ‘80s MIJ pick up.

Is there any way you can try them out?

I can try the dutch one out since it's located in Belgium. All the others are abroad.

Thanks for the replies!
