Your favorite "non-boutique" dirt pedals?

Post by dallasisacowboy »

As in the type of pedal that Guitar Center might have laying around. This includes fuzz, overdrive, distortion, what have you. Shoot please.

P.S. I ask because sometimes its nice to have something readily available in case something poops out, especially if you're on tour.

Its not technically dirt but it's in that category id say. A dyna comp. I dont have one but I have a shitty clone and I use it as a vol + comp boost and keep the knobs at 10 to push stuff.

NYC Big Muff. MXR Blue Box. Boss HM-2... if it was still made.

I actually don't mind the Boss DS-1 either. I've also had a band borrow my amp at a show and they played a Boss Blues Driver into it and sounded pretty fucking sludgy.

HM-2 was my first pedal in the 90's... DOD Death, Grunge and American Metal, Digitech Metal Master (TALMAST), Swollen Pickle and Pork Loin, Boss ODs, Mooer Triangle Buff, Biyang Fuzz Star, Ibanez Fz7, and for some reason I want a Vox Ice9 and a Voodoo Labs Giggity...

I guess discontinued stuff doesn't really count for the purposes of this thread, though.

fOXX Tone Machine if I can count that (although I guess that's once again discontinued).

If not, then the Turbo Rat.

Rat (91-ish Big Box reissue), HM-2, Duncan Tweak Fuzz, and Zoom Ultra Fuzz. I received an MXR Badass Overdrive for Christmas and am surprised how much I like it well into its dirty range, especially since I have been off of my TS for ages.
