Ugh this song is so great. I remember stealing my dad's Hendrix compilation and jamming out to this as a kid. Probably one of the first songs I heard and realized how cool music and sound manipulation can be.

& now I'm on this website every day. Thanks, Jimi.

I would agree with you 200% except the Patti Smith version of Gloria is pretty much the best thing ever. If it wasn't on my earlier list I fucked up.

So I've put about two minutes into making a real list, but there's no way I can cull it to an all time five, let alone order them, or stay strictly in that "rock" mechanic. So here's five for right now.

Band of Gypsys - Machine Gun
Allman Brothers Band - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Cream - Tale of Brave Ulysses

Fleetwood Mac - Oh Well (Part 1)
Specifically this version--the BBC session. Fuck yeah Peter Green.

Off the top of my head, under my definition of "Rock":

"Duel" Swervedriver
"Geek U.S.A." The Smashing Pumpkins
"Firecracker" Nada Surf
"Bury Me With It" Modest Mouse
"San Cristobal de las Casas" Swirlies

Edit: Fuck man, I forgot about Sonic Youth... Self Obsessed and Sexxee...
