Full disclosure: I was all
when I read that the most requested Dunwich amp is that Matamp GT120.
Not a slight on you or anyone who orders one, but jesus people, we've all been able to listen to Dopesmoker for ten years at this point. (or more, if you're a Music Cartel/Rise Above fan).

most requested? well that would be the Wizard actually. Based solely on # of emails for requests and given how long it has been out.
Also the amp (DA120 which you are referring to) is pretty clean and works well with any pedal so it does not sound like dopesmoker to be honest. I can always get that tone with the right pedals of course. I modded the design to some degree. Removed Drive control ect I wont bore with details.
Plus that design shits on so many others. I have built a lot of different designs and its still probably my fav for go to pedal tone. I dont usually like to run it into much amp distortion. Volume like on 1.5 (already running out of cleanheadroom a bit) and slam it with a pedal. Sounds like whatever pedal you use.
More bass then a Marshall SL/SB and a Model T, and better EQ then them as well. I never liked Fenders, too much mid cut.

I remember this rig. DAT REDBEAR![]()
Thanks man, I love the way it came out. IT was really the first thing I had ever even attempted to do on my own. Spent about 2 weeks hand sanding it and staining it. I'm a sucker for the verellens with the spalted maple, so i won't lie, that is the whole reason the front looks like that.
Well it came out really nice. I like it even better than that Redbear that Emperor did.
All this shit makes me want to buy Conkys mk60. But I has no monies and no actual need for it. Plus it's too wide to fit on mah cabs. Symmetry.
Nope - words on a screen are easy to misinterpret and people are more inclined to be bigger assholes on the internet since there aren't any real world consequences (mostly getting their ass kicked).
The red bear actually blew me away when i got it. I tweak the verellen tons, based off temperature in the room, space I'm playing, phase of the moon, etc. I love the amp, but i am always tweaking it. The red bear is just built like a god damn tank. I've debated buying a second JUST in case, but i also know if i blow this up i will make/pay someone to make a clone of it. Solid circuit, sounds awesome. Huge fan of the amp.

I'm just blaming the album for jacking up the prices of Matamps and Oranges. Not that they weren't expensive before, but post Joel Wheeler AND HIS INDY BANDS AND HIS MONDO TONE and the Tee Pee Dopesmoker release shit blew up.
And I'm with you on the design--I love my OR120 (which more like a first cousin to the Matamp).

ahh its all good man. I know what you mean to some degree. To be honest that kind of tone I like is not exactly the dopesmoker tone. Its an awesome tone for chords and held out notes but does nothing for me in term of palm mutes or chugs. Loses definition there. Perfect for that record but not my playing.
I dont charge 2 much for that amp to be honest. Around 1500 or so for a 100W.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
But seriously if you made a shirt that had Joel Wheeler's head on a plate with the caption
DUNWICH AMPS
REAL MONDO TONE
I would buy like a thousand.

Caps his/theirs, not mine.
The ELECTRIC AMP VOLUME UNIT is the answer to Pure TUBE TONE.
For MONDO CLEAN VOLUME at High Volume Levels, this unit will give you the best huge clean sound.
Crank the VOLUME Knob and attain Natural Overdriven Harmonic Distortion that is not saturated.
Most of the coolest INDY Guitar and Bass Players find this unit the best all around tube amp.
Providing a HUGE Clean ELECTRIC AMP Signal, this is a great foundation for pedal box and rack
mount FX users. Utilize the ELECTRIC Volume Unit's Power and Clean with your favorite FX pedal
for better than channel switching combonations.
VOLUME Units are not just for "guitarists". The ELECTRIC AMP VOLUME UNIT IS GREAT BASS PLAYER Amplification, that will provide you with big warm tones in your favorite power tubes/valves choice.
- DEEP is a click switch that selects your bottom end frequency.
- DRIVE brings in your stages of output overDRIVE.
- BASS provides bass frequency up and down.
- TREBLE put it into fog, or bring it up front clear and bright.
- BOOST up your signal like nitro funny cars light up the USA dragstrips.
- VOLUME controls the level of VOLUME Output from LOUD to MONDO LOUD.
This AMP is not intended for low volume at ALL. Mondo Clean tones for all types of applications.
Caps his/theirs, not mine.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Has Electric Amp wiring gotten any better? I remember it looking pretty horrible last time I saw some guts. No grommets or anything on the wires between inside and outside of the chasis, etc
