I doubt it... I've played a old Starfire and I thought it was one of the oddest necks I ever played... it was NARROW like a Rivoli but THICk front to back...

"No, dude, it has nothing to do with dub. It did, at one point, like seven years ago, but now its just transformer sex."

I know :picard: Actually though... I am convinced that that sound came from the pod race thing in the first of the "new" suckwars movies...

Also from my personal experience... a lot people that like new dubstep i.e. skrillix [??] are the same very people that think nickelback ROXX!!!!!

But you know... maybe it's me... maybe it's dumb to think that gimmicks are more awesome then actual content... I know... I suck.

Nah, brah, Skrillex and Nickleback are both staples on my gym playlist!

However "gimmicky" it may be, Skrillex is fun as fuck with my friends in the car.
Specifically this song:

The cutaways on the upper bout look like they're shaped differently.

lol. i don't care if it's poseur or not. i love a few Skrillex songs. and i like a lot of the stuttery and bass heavy samples used in Dubstep. i think it sounds better mixed up with different stuff, but there's some cool stuff out there.

Casady's bass was heavily modified by the boffins at Alembic...it almost looks like they re-topped it, or removed the top when they worked on it.

Thank you for posting this. It's the perfect example of what I had said several pages back. Why couldn't the whole song sound as good as the beginning? Is it impossible for the artist to realize how stupid that middle section sounds? A little mouse voice or auto tune or whatever the fuck it is....that shit sucks. I'm sorry. It's cool if you guys like it, but I hate it. Fuck.

I was gonna say that. Heavily modified? Yeah, very heavily modified. Pre-amps and active circuitry up the wazoo.

I knew that Alembic had worked on it, but I'm not at all sure what they did to it. That control panel thingy looks like their work tho, definitely.

I think it's cool for a few songs and then I'm done. I mean, the bass wobbles are fun for a few minutes, then I get a bit bored with it. The beats I've heard so far have been pretty pedestrian and haven't been enough to hold my interest. If anyone can point me towards some dubstep with a really sick breakbeat or something more experimental, I'd totally give it a shot. But nothing's knocked me on my ass yet.

The thing that's come closest to what I thought Dubstep was going to be, is a few of Nerve's tracks. But then again, you get JoJo Mayer on the drums, you know the beats are going to be sick.
