man, I always thought the Machine seemed interesting, but that was before I really took off with my pedal lust.
Im hoping that the Sonar's built in Machine fuzz circuit is also killer....
that way it seems much more fun, anyone have one??

whatever you chose + a superfuzz clone with the volume max'd and the expander set to where its just a hair above unity. it takes whatever fuzz in front of it, and puts it through the pulverizer and makes it sound like a dying elephant banshee

i'm quite happy with my north effects clone. super cheap, arrives fast and optimized for the octave, and it makes these sounds with chorus and an Algal Bloom in front of it

I just had lot's of fun with the Fairfield Circuitry Four Eyes. You might want to look into that. It is a Multi-Band-Fuzz. That means the signal is split into one bassy, one middley and one trebley part and you can adjust the gain for each separately. You can also adjust the cutoff for the separation. There are more tricks to it, but that is basically it. It can get extraordinarily nasty but also cop some interesting other tones. Sometimes it sounds like an octave fuzz or like playing through an ancient phone booth or like ballsy doom fuzz.

Just another idea.

Yeah I would definitely call that aggressive! It gets really crazy with extreme settings, great and unique pedal.

I like using a fuzzhugger upper into another fuzz, set so there's no octave but just this harsh texture that really rips with anything that comes after, it's pretty rad. Not sure it's what you're looking for, but it's barely any sustain, CLANG and fucked up angry sounds. If that sounds like your jam give it a look!

EDIT: Reread the OP, maybe the upper wouldn't be right since it's only really as high gain as whatever it's pushing. It's pretty trashy and nasty though so you might dig it anyway. :idk:

Really anything that does octaves is pretty mean, or a TGD? 4545 is crayyzeee.

Si FF's always come off as the most aggressive fuzzes to me but they also have their own characteristics that may not be pleasing. Muffs have the most natural decay IMO but the usually are not as aggressive to me

One of the gnarliest tones I've found has been octave up Tone Machine -> Eau Claire Thunder.
So I'd suggest a natsy octave fuzz -> a muff.

Also, Devi Ever Aenima with oscillation.
