Re: <3 The Love Connection and TB Mega Thread <3
I've got one of those new Arc Effects Russian guys coming in. I'll see how that goes. The sucky part is that it'll probably be a little while until I'm able to mess with it in a mix. And, judging on my average tenure for fuzzes, it'll be shipped out by then.
Bit of a Devil's Advocate, $10. The hatred for the clean blend. I've noticed that clean blend is the opposite of muffs, doesn't sound all that awesome solo, but sounds great in a mix. I kinda understand where you're coming from where it loses some of that DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM when there's clean bass, though. What I like to do to marry both Worlds is I'll take a parallel looper with a clean blend, say a Badger Schism. I'll have a muff in one loop and a gated fuzz in the second. To make the clean blend sound less pussy, I'll put my ODs before the Schism. Like, for the muff, I'll use my Swell that has a fuzzier sounding OD. And in front of my gated fuzz I'll put the B3K with a more modern OD. That way the clean blend that's being mixed in with the wet fuzz signal isn't just some wssy articulate clean sound, it's got some bawlz to it. The trick is getting the perfect amount of saturation with the OD so that it put hair on it but still stays articulate......and matching the OD pedal to the fuzz pedal. Gotta match timbres.
And the reason I say to use a parallel looper with a clean blend is that it will actually keep the dry and wet signals parallel. You don't want them in series. Has to be parallel. Then it's just a matter of dialing in the right amout of fuzz sound vs OD sound so that it is both hairy and defined.

1) A dirty nasty green Russian muff tone
2) No clean blend
3) Don't give me scooped mids
4) Don't give me flat mids
5) Give me mids control to push to face melting when I need it and back it off if I'm playing a shitty room.
Thoughts? Tips? Jokes?
Black Arts LSTR? Nasty muff with a mids control. You could get Ryan to build a Mail Order Muff. It's one of the only Muff-based pedals I've come to like, including the LSTR and the Bluebeard. The LSTR is a beast of a pedal. Do it.
I got mine for $95 shipped.

Some really cool ideas there Josh. Thanks man.
Sousa - I actually thought an alternative to blend would be a simple EQ pedal in a loop with the muff. I also dig your idea of overdrive into the clean loop. That's something I haven't explored but I probably have the sort of board where I could.
On looks alone, that Arc Effects pedal is 100% my kind of thing. I love the concept but am worried it will struggle in the mix for me. Tonally, in isolation, I love them.
I'll check out the LSTR for sure. Also working a trade for a Thundaa hopefully. It's a great pedal and I think I'll look to add two muff types onto my board and drop a Rat Tail. The Thundaa in blast mode is killer when I get to use my own rig. I'll work on using its controls more if I can work this trade.

The other idea I have is to talk to Skully or one of the other great builders on here for a souped up muff build. Officer Bukowski made me an awesome delay a while ago and I want to buy from these guys more.

He built mine last year, I believe. He said he had enough parts left over and had some downtime. I was lucky, I got a custom paintjob from Shannon, too.
Here's an old picture:

Another Fuzzrocious friend requested the same vagina because he loved mine so much.
