A couple random questions about pedal placement

Since this seems have become a food thread: I'm not all that stuck on the vegetarian thing. I don't care what other people eat. But I don't eat processed food anymore, and almost all the fake "meats" are highly processed. We just eat a ton of vegetables, fruits, and stuff like rice. Occasionally bread, but often not.

What do you get your protein from?

My PT-Pro is divided into two sections with the volume pedal in the center. I try to run bottom right to left, the to top right to left. Then into the volume pedal, with the left side run the same way.
I also use the tuner out on my EB volume, but I had it modded to fix the impedance split that happens stock.

I put phasers before fuzz. I like the unstable texture it creates as opposed to the swooshiness of after fuzz phasing.

I've found myself just doing whatever works. I don't have a Pedal Train board but I always have to change stuff around even when I add one pedal. I don't bother to make my cables look pretty since I move stuff around so much. my current layout is in my signature. It works great but if you look closely there's a ton of messy spots to make stuff work, but IT WORKS. which I feel is the most important thing, so mission accomplished.
one thing i've done in the past to counteract the fact that inputs are always on the right of the pedals and outputs on the left, is run a cable under my board connecting the output of the bottom row to the input of the top row. some people will say that makes your signal run farther which isn't good for your tone, but honestly I don't care enough
EDIT: Having pedal connectors with flat right angle on the end makes a HUGE difference for me, I couldn't make my current board work without them

yes. i've occasionally been able to run the signal from corner to corner by having boxes connected to each other in the center tier, but not with my current setup.

doing that makes it a no brainer to hook up stuff! I'll probably do it again when I add more pedals.
The set up I have now is mostly my experimenting with order rather then placement and convenience

that's why i'm really liking the idea of having the boxes with top jacks arranged across the upper tier...i want to experiment with different placements of the filter/modulation/reverb, and already have a set of color-coded 1-foot patch cables i can use. this will allow me to move cables rather than boxes, since all the jacks will be on the upper outside edge of the board and i can cable them however i wish. i've seriously considered bolting a rackmount patch bay to the board so i can route everything in/out, but i think it's probably impractical for live usage though it could be an Eno miracle treatment in the studio and a synth-style patch bay on a pedalboard would look cool as fuck.

I'm quite interested myself in phaser placement lately. I've rarely had phasers to play with, and when I did, they were MXRs, which I found I just don't like. Where it's at for me is the Small Stone V4... probably the best phaser ever. But yeah, it was like, well, you put it AFTER FUZZ, obviously, for the swoosh. But lately, mostly 'cuz of Tame Impala, I've been finding a lot of excellent sounds putting the phaser before fuzz. I like a phaser swoosh, but before fuzz lets the fuzz shine instead of the phaser... like it's a whole new fuzz pedal with a lot of the characteristics you love about it unphased, but with a lot of weird, crackly texture.

Gotta fuck around with that and reverb a little more. I've never owned a reverb pedal, but I just got a mini-RRR.

lately ive been leaning towards putting my phaser before fuzz
i have the sibling phaser now and while the swoosh is awesome after fuzz, it can sound thin on slower settings. putting it before fuzz fixes that.

Or sound like your going through a wormhole! Unless it's a real subtle phaser, I find pre fuzz phaser much more useable. But I like all mod pre dirt

I haven't been here very long, but I think I got the hang of this so here goes: FUZZ BEFORE + FUZZ AFTER + FUZZ ALL AROUND --- FUZZ TACO IN A FUZZ BURRITO

i've found that i prefer phaser before fuzz, despite the fact that i prefer chorus and flanging after fuzz. phasing can be un-subtle, and fuzz compresses and gives a crude EQ to the phaser sound.

That said, I really like the sound of the swoosh on top of my sound with phaser after -- so that's where I have my Grand Orbiter right now. I have it set to be rather subtle though, where the Malekko Phaser isn't really subtle but does sound great.
