Re: Dropping dat bass and your mom's pants! (TB Mega Thread
So peeps, I bought a T-40 tonight and it needs some TLC. Put new strings on it and adjusted the bridge and neck tilt, to get as low as I can without string buzz, but the strings are still pretty high up off the middle of the fretboard. I assume I need a truss rod adjustment, yeah? Any T-40 owners have any secrets about the neck tilt I'm missing?

what's the string height currently? Press down at the 1st fret and 15th fret, then check the space around the 8th fret. It should be about 2 picks worth of clearance

That's about where it's at, maybe a tad bit higher. I can definitely see the bow in the neck but I know that's not necessarily a bad thing. Iunno. Also, the pots/jack are scratchy as shit. I tried to get inside and clean it all up but the screws holding the pickup to the body are basically stripped. Grr. Maybe I should just bring it in for a set up.

You're gonna have to spend some time with it. I have a T-40 I keep at work, I'll take some measurements when I can and give them to you. I set it up to play siiiiick.

Yeah it's also been some time since I've had a bass, so not being used to the scale and strings is probably a decent part of it. But thanks about the measurements, that'd be cool

I do have my bridge saddles down pretty low, so I think I'll raise them quite a bit and adjust the neck tilt accordingly. Hopefully that will help. Thanks, dude

The neck should be the first adjustment before anything else. Once you get the string height where you want it around the middle of the neck, make the bridge height adjustments and intonation.

Whenever I stop on TB I want to blow my brains. 30 seconds on there is more than enough.

This makes me lol. Its basically the exact same as it always was, you guys are just tired of it being the way it is. Your annoyance is understandable for sure, but there has been very little change over the years.

nope! i mean, yeah. some parts of it grate on me because i enjoy over here more, but when i started spending a lot of time over there like 3 years ago!m? whenevah. but THEN. i could look at the home page and find an interesting thread or two. then it got to where only in the efx section one or two each time i looked would pop out.
now it's the same exact three boring threads over. and over. and over.
lol. and when a thread DOES show up about a pedal i'm interested in, the only people i care what they say would be over here saying it in a more happy fun times way.
BLEGH. INTERNET GRANDPA CRANKY SHOES. I HAZ.
