Is the v4 pretty clean? When does it start breaking up? I need a clean, loud pedal platform and I've been wondering about these old ampegs.

It can be but it's only 100w so if you're using it for bass you may need to crank it past clean levels to get the volume you need.
I play guitar and mine usually breaks up just before noon on the volume knob and that is with OG tubes and caps.
I would think with new tubes, caps and the bias a little colder you could go a bit further.
They can also be modded with a master volume. That may help?

Nicky Dunwich could probably speak more educatedly on this.

Here's My rig o' Doom

Thats with both heads out of the case.
I recently acquired my long-sought after marshall 2x15

Now it stacks way more symmetrically.
There is another emperor to match the one pictured, but it is at my drummer's house and is what i use for practice.

Good morning doomers.... snapped the button off my pants getting out of the truck once i got to work...
It's that kind of day so far.
I was thinking exactly this last night after band practice. I'm gonna put it in the thread title and hope that pumpkin see's it.

really late to the party on this but screw it:skullservant wrote:speaking of bass, I broke out my Kramer for the first time in a week or so last night and put together a small board for it. Finding that I actually dig the Boss Bass Overdrive?using it with the gain and blend on noon to just boost the bass frequencies of whatever I put through it. IE my Rusty Box now has it's low end problem fixed, the Big Spider has more balls, etc etc
dude. Good enough for Buzzo. But also the guy from Talk is Poison / Look Back and Laugh / Needles etc. ODBs are sick. And also they're called ODB.Ancient Astronaught wrote:lapsteel wrote:DOOOOOOMMMMMM! Doom!
Good idea. Anyone else like their doom played fretless and with a tonebar?
Fretless Bass and doom actually go together wonderfully in my opinion.
Was playing a fretless bass in the stoner/doom band I play in now up until I got my aluminium bass. It sounded incredible and I'll probably use it a lot when we record again. Big fan of fretless in slow music. What you can do with vibrato and little microtone changes makes stuff really cool.skullservant wrote:Really thinking about buying a set of flats for it though... Seriously, can't recommend these highly enough. Number one, they're quite bright and crisp for flats which is nice. Number two, they're nice and thick. Number three: FUCKING MAIDEN DUDE.
My step dad, a proud Maiden Fan Club Subscriber, would be very pleased to know I rock Iron Maiden strings

Fuck yeah, ILF Doom Room
Didn't bother 'multiquoting' so I'm just going to list off all of the stuff I was thinking while I caught up on the thread this morning. Ready? GO:
- Nick, that delay machine sounds fucking amazing
- Skip, congrats on the small human you have on the way! Early or late Sept?
- I thought about doing the Iron Fuzz competition as well, but I'm pretty sure my recording skillz are not up to par
- Holy shit amazing rigs in here - really giving me some 'real/big' Ampeg envy. Basically every rig that has been posted is supremely badass.
Actually quoting this one because holy balls you've been waiting forever to get that Orange going. Congrats man! Also, DAT GOLDTOP

Rig pics even though everyone has probably already seen them

Running that board into the Ampeg and an LTD and/or Mastortion into the Blackstar. Thinking about finding a good distortion to run into the Ampeg - any suggestions? I want an Elements, so that will definitely happen at some point, but I've been curious about Rats recently.

Thanks my friend!!!! We're not 100% positive yet, we should have alot more detailed info within the next few months, but I believe its gonna be a Late September baby. (hopefully after the 23rd, I'd much rather have a Libra baby then a Virgo baby.... Astrology FTW!

Very cool!
And there's also this. Some dudes from my town got signed to Relapse and are releasing a split with Red Fang. Pretty excited about them potentially getting some much deserved recognition.
