My current rig: Aluminium necked epiphone ripper. Tym big bottom with a HM2 in the loop, tuner, ampeg V4B and acoustic 2x15. I'm going to get the matching head for the acoustic fixed eventually.

speaking of bass, I broke out my Kramer for the first time in a week or so last night and put together a small board for it. Finding that I actually dig the Boss Bass Overdrive? using it with the gain and blend on noon to just boost the bass frequencies of whatever I put through it. IE my Rusty Box now has it's low end problem fixed, the Big Spider has more balls, etc etc

Good idea. Anyone else like their doom played fretless and with a tonebar?

Fretless Bass and doom actually go together wonderfully in my opinion.

Was playing a fretless bass in the stoner/doom band I play in now up until I got my aluminium bass. It sounded incredible and I'll probably use it a lot when we record again. Big fan of fretless in slow music. What you can do with vibrato and little microtone changes makes stuff really cool.

Really thinking about buying a set of flats for it though... FLATS FRETLESS DOOM?

Seriously, can't recommend these highly enough. Number one, they're quite bright and crisp for flats which is nice. Number two, they're nice and thick. Number three: FUCKING MAIDEN DUDE.

Yeah, I mean the whole scene is still pretty tiny overall--I dropped a Jerusalem reference the other day in a room full of people who had no idea what it was, and had a shocking moment whereupon it crushed down that not everyone lives in a cannabinated aerospace pressurized by slow and low vibrations.

But fuck that noise, these new bands all suck (except the ones that don't).

I honestly feel that the problem is that people just think it's 'easy' to do a doom band or a stoner band or whatever. And it appeals to those of us who care more about gear than actual songs so hence the over-saturation of boring crap out there. I mean I love having nice gear now but then I used to be in a band ten years ago where I used a squier tele and a marshall MG100 and I think the stuff that band did at the time was just as heavy and interesting. (Then I left the band and they got way better, toured the states a bunch of times and did a split with The Body but hey).

Here's a photo of my rig. I know most of the Doom Roomers have seen it before, but fuck me, it's pretty much the first time in over a year that I've had a full working set up and I'm happy, ALRIGHT?

The bottom one is a V4B and the top is a regular V4 both are early 70's I believe.
Bass sounds pretty good through it but all the speakers are guitar speakers and that's what I use it for most.
