Got a zvex Basstortion in today. I'm pretty impressed with it. It's really tubey sounding but not in the Sansamp "pepper" tone way. It sounds closer to my EBS Valvedrive. Big bottom end boost and it sounds really fat and amp like. I'd rate it as a mild to medium dirt pedal. Not massive grind but it makes you want to really dig in with it. The real test will be in rehearsal and a show next week but so far so good.

So my wife got me some chrome flats for christmas and because t-40'a are string through they are not long enough, on my low string the wrap comes down to about half way through the first fret has anyone tried circle K strings with through body saddles? or know of some similar flats to these chromes that would fit?

.136 would be my choice. Maybe even thicker. Currently rocking a .158 for an A. I have the bass tuned up to B standard and it's tight. Send Skip at CKS an email. He is awesome at replying to messages and he can offer you some advice.

This is probably because the taperwound portion of the string is much shorter than most mainstream taperwound strings. I would say that in theory you can throw a set of CKSes on a string through body bass,...but don't expect the tapered portion of the string to make contact with the saddle.

They have a really handy string tension chart that you can use to figure out what gauge you want to use depending on what tuning you'll be in. That makes it really easy to design your own custom balanced set.

I had the same thing happen with a set on my T-40. Didn't come that far down into the fret though. It seemed to play and sound just fine though so the strings are still on there. Also I've seen that apparently you shouldn't put flats on a through body strung bass? Even the packaging on my strings said that but I haven't broken one yet and they seem to be working fine so
I can def. tell the difference when I play my open low C I think I may try to unravel the wrap and see if that helps the tone. Otherwise I LOVE these strings

Anybody using synth stuff in an alt rock or indie rock kinda way?
So my board is getting pretty set....but it has some spaces.....and I have some cashes....I'm trying to think about where I can go with this and I keep getting stuck on that "synth" word. Now, I've always shied away from synth stuff. I don't like the funks. Or...I like it. I can jam some PFunk, I just won't ever play it. Same think with Electronica. And I have a Robot Factory Brain Freeze so I'm not looking for some wub wub wub wah stuff. Everytime I start looking at vids of pedals, I only see this stuff showcased in a 70's porn kinda way. I'm not the biggest fan of ring mods..........I dunno. I've always had the impression that synth was not for me. Is there some synth pedals out there that are more geared to be used in alt rock, indie bands and the such?
And I guess I'm not meaning synth fuzz. I have an Oxide. Love the Prunes and Custard. I'm kinda looking for something not combined with the fuzz......but CAN be combined with the fuzz.
As for myself, I use a ton of synth stuff in my originals, but you'd probably call most of that electronica, so it's probably not what you're looking for.
Yes. That's the stuff that's in my head. The problem with my search is that most of the bass synth talk is on TB and we......well.....we know what directions those go in. What type of synth sound is going on in there? And people, please send me more stuff like that. Thanks, bro.

TAAS is fucking awesome, all of their shit is highly recommended. I think Brian actually uses a Microkorg for most of the synth stuff. His pedalboard is mostly whammy, fuzz and delay.
