I've never had an active instrument to be honest. It sounds great to my ears. I've always played passive Fender Jazz basses until now, so tonally it is quite different. Hotter output, more aggressive attack but with the active EQ section you can roll back the treble and mellow it up quite a bit. I'll be putting some flatwounds on as well to take a bit of the edge off.

Doesn't look like it.
Its a versatile EQ though so I'm not too concerned, loads of tones to be had.

Maybe bypassing the EQ will be one of the mods you eventually do. Nice that it's versatile though.
