Electronic projects from metal artists?

Post by jfrey »

Seems like a lot of guys in metal put out really solid electronic releases, so I'm looking for some more. Anybody know any?

Here's a couple I like a lot:

Scorn, maybe?

Mick Harris' post-Napalm project, alongside fellow Napalm Death alumnus Nic Bullen, at least on the first three albums or so. Not entirely dissimilar from some of the "dub" stuff Godflesh would do a few years later.

I fucking love Scorn.

There is also Justin's FINAL project, which seems mostly electronic based. (Don't know if this is a decent track, just grabbed it)

Justin also spent time in Techno Animal:

And, of course, Curse of the Golden Vampire (Techno Animal + Alec Empire on the first album, and just Techno Animal on the second), shades of golden-era DHR-style material on here

Fear Factory has put out a couple releases, where they take their albums and do electronic remixes of them:

That was actually the first album I ever bought. Still quite fond of it, even after all these years, but I do quite like my loud, pounding TR-909 kickdrums, so yeah.

was gonna post Final. Feel like maybe some of Plotkin's work would come into this too? Also possibly some of Lotus Eaters and House of Low Culture's more ambient stuff, but that's probably pushing the definition of 'electronic music'.

Neptune Towers, Fenriz' Klaus Schulze/Tangerine Dream/etc worship project. Whether this fits the bill really depends on what you're looking for when you say "electronic", though.
