I have a Maestro MPF-1 Parametric Filter and dig it quite a lot:
There's also the Stone Deaf PDF-1 which is based on it:

Can't speak highly enough of the Maestro. Never tried the Stone Deaf.

The Stone Deaf is a solid pedal but I've never tried the Maestro so I can't offer comparison.
The distortion on it isn't that great and I wish it had a expression jack for the Freq knob.

Parametrics such as the Stone Deaf will work good for this too.

I tried the Stone Deaf. Maybe I didn't play around with it enough, but it was pretty subtle, and was somewhat low-volume.

Definitely not the case with the Maestro, though I've not tried on bass.

Not lawyer or dentist priced ($50) but you can control the width and you can sweep through the whole frequency range.

Man, Artec...
I was moments away from posting pics of the pedalboard ryan summit made me, with my home guitar stomps, and then my Artec active volume pedal shit the mufferfuzzing bed. Sucked the joy right out of life.
