I'm usually an Andy fan, but I thought Burgs did a better Elements demo.

I enjoy his ramblings as much as his playing.

I'm not always a fan of Nick's ramblings, though they're quite often entertaining of themselves, but his playing's usually well done.

Nick is very informative, because of him I know how to use a compressor for my style of music^^ But his music style is so far away from my own, that I find it hard to judge a dirt pedal.

I was expecting to really dislike the GMD demo after reading this thread but c'mon guys, it's pretty good! I don't mind it at all really, although I suspect you're right, that he maybe didn't know exactly how the pedal works before starting the demo.

I like his style though and it sounds good and it was well received in the comments, so that's a pretty darn successful demo video to me right there! *smile*

There's a lot of incredible demoers out there and I really appreciate their work, from the pros like the PGS boys, Prymaxe, Jet City Music, Mike Hermans, JustNick, GMD, to our pals around here like Sylvain and Jeff... I love when somebody takes the time to show off a pedal, it's always appreciated and I dig hearing all the different styles.

I didn't even know GMD had done a Cosmi review so thanks for bringing it up!

I met GMD once. Pretty legit guy. I really, really wanted to ask him if he ever even touches the pedal before he starts making the video, but we just talked about fuzz pedals.

I do like watching GMD. But he, like others, seem to play the exact sort of thing in all reviews, no matter the pedal. I disagree with him being great at demo-ing dirt pedals. I get to a point where I just want him to play some chords. The CC review wasn't the worst review ever, but I wouldn't have bought it based on the review, I probably wouldn't even have looked at another review. PGS needs to review the V3.

I'll be sending one to Burgs very soon, that'll probably be the first 'official' demo that gets done and he's probably my favourite guy too since he's so awesome. He'll do it in stereo too.. Andy doesn't do stereo vids.

I didn't watch the gmd demo before commenting, but after watching, it just confirmed what I thought. You can see him poking at some of the knobs like he has no idea what will happen. In this case, he zero'd in on a couple decent sounds and stuck with them. I have seen other demos where he has made a good sounding pedal come out rather bad, it just upsets me that he obviously doesn't know most of the pedals at all before he records them, and sometimes the demos (and the builders) suffer for this.

On another note, Burgs doing a CC demo is awesome news. I just bought an elements based on his demo. All the other demos had me worried it was just for fullbore metal guitar. Turns out that's only part of what it can do. :joy: I bought it more for EQ and overdrive than full out distortion. It's obviously incredibly versatile.

I only watch gmd demos when I can't find a demo by someone else. He is good for getting a general sense of what the pedal is about, but other demoers really get into detail setting up different tones and playing different styles to suit the pedal, which is just much more helpful IMO. Obviously in terms of exposure he's great, and for the sheer volume of demos he has done he is a good resource, but give me Burgs any day, I find he really manages to bring out the best in the pedals he demos.

I always hate when, during a demo, they say "Here's the clean sound" and the amp is already breaking up. It's terrible when it's a distortion that they're demoing, but I'd like to hear a true clean regardless of the pedal.

absolutely! it's like WTF? clean is clean. not...slightly overdriven. and i think it should be warm as well. clean should be a tone you're happy to use/hear without any pedals.

anyway, i've never been impressed by that GMD guy.

I agree bigtime, all bets are off if the amp is already cooking, especially with any kind of gain pedal!
