I think they are cute little toys and not much more.

When modeling first came out like a lot of people I read all the cool shit and hype and got some line6 stuff and some plugin based stuff... and in the end I can get better sounds by running a pedal direct and EQing it and adding ambients most of the time for recording and for live I have never thought modeled stuff sits as well and "norm" amps, preamps ect.. sure some pros use them... but... what other stuff are they them running it through to make it work is the question.

Yah, it was cool to have the line six to find out what type of effects I liked and what sounds I liked but, none of the spider series amps sound that great. So they gave me a starting point in terms of pedal buying because I knew what sound I wanted to get. But I would not buy a line six amp again, perhaps one of their cabinets for a good price used, but not new.

Honestly, I've never liked any of the digital models I've tried, although I haven't a lot of them (mostly just the Line 6 POD stuff, and a Digitech BP200).

However, I think that the Tech 21 character series pedz are mostly very good. They do a damn good job of sounding like the amps they're copping. I wish Tech 21 would throw all of them in one box, I would totally buy that.

I've personally had better experiences with modeling software.

Everything except the distorted bass is coming through Amplitube (if you'll forgive the shameless and bungled attempt at trying to sound like Russian Circles)

I don't use feedback loops, I have a stereo rig!

Can LFO Delay into LFO delay after it though.
