MF is part of Guitar Center, which has a tangled symbiotic business relationship with Gibson...they appear to be remaindering these guitars, which (at least in the case of the P90 guitars) came out as a new model a year or two ago and probably didn't sell as Gibson hoped they'd do.

up until I week ago I still worked for gc, I can tell you the cost on just about everything cool there. promise thats cost on those.
the point is to get you to buy other things that aren't so marked down, it's a great thing for the sales guys who also get paid on gross sales (granted its a shitty living, but hey I did it for 2 years :/ )
