The only way I can imagine using those shimmering reverbs is pre dirt, pre filter or pre octave/shifters, such as a POG 2...
Does someone ever test it??
I'm not really into those Coldplayish fx, but it might be exciting to use it super early in the chain...I guess...

The thing about a lot of those ambient-y reverb or regenerating delay sounds is they kind of kill dynamics which doesn't give most dirt a lot to work with to sound interesting. I'm mostly extrapolating from hating compression before dirt, but I'll go with that for now.

Shimmer only sounds good full wet. Don't need any of that clean tone fuckin around with all dem space toans.
Nah, but really, there has to be applications for it. I think it's an acquired taste for sure, but denying it's usefulness is a bit of a stretch when many people like pedals such as EQD's Organizer and Rainbow Machine. Shimmer is essentially a more stable rainbow machine that puts the intervals (in most cases plus x amount of octaves up) on the reverb sound only. Very dramatic and difficult to use without sounding like halloween is your favorite holiday. I personally like the "Shine" mode on my Supernatural which is shimmer with chorus. The octaves are more subdued, so it mostly just sounds like the biggest hall ever. I find the "Shimmer" mode itself much more difficult to use for some reason.
With that said... full wet, all the way.

So, full wet + a digital delay (to create some fake dynamic??) before dirt/octave & co might do the trick, right?
I'm not really denying its usefulness, I'm kind of interested with shimmer reverbs but what is a problem to my hears is that everyone sounds the same now...

I don't think that shimmer first would be really what you're looking for- as PP said, it's more about the octave that you're looking for and not the roominess of a verb. You could always do some sort of polyphonic octaver, then dirt, then a verb. That way you could keep your dynamics in tact.
