Eastwood Guitars <--School me!

Post by hazelwould »

Anyone know anything about them?

I'm looking at the Sidejack with P-90s.

I want to know about build quality, electronics, parts etc.

They look pretty cool!

I have an Airline 2P Deluxe and I've played an Eastwood classic bass. The Airline's humbuckers were decent but a little boring so I switched the bridge to an original Airline single coil. Needless to say, it's an amazing sounding guitar now, great unique twangy garage tones. The bridge is a little shady, the saddles wiggle in their place and my high e string breaks constantly, at the bridge the tuners could be improved upon but they work, the neck is more comfortable than any Fender or Gibson that I have ever played (the only one that has come close was a vintage Gretsch Triple Jet). The bass wasn't great but the built quality was much better than on the Airline. I think they look like great guitars, it just depends on which one you get (I've heard great things about the Stormbird and the Tuxedo looks like heaven  ).

I know their build quality is shit for the cheaper models. They look cool and sound good. Just be prepared to take it to a luthier within the first few months.

I have the Sidejack, but the bridge pickup was replaced with a dimebucker. I've played the original though. The stock pickups are noisey as fuck, but they sound amazing. Putting in a humbucker really helped reduce high squeal feedback. The fretboard seems a tad bit wider than most, nothing to make a big fuss over unless you have smaller hands. not sure on starcastic's comment. I've had mine for about a year and no issues. I'd definitely recommend getting new tuners though... they stay in tune fine, they're just very awkward to tune.

I just played my white sidejack while doing lead guitar for my friends punk/alternative band, had a blast. :thumb: they're totally worth it IMO. They have a unique sound that come through even the thickest of fuzz, it doesn't sound like any other guitar I have.
