Re: Thoughts On the ZVex Fuzz Factory & Mastotron
I never bonded with my Mastotron but it was like my first fuzz and I think I would like a lot more now.
I'd also like to try an FF with my current setup

Kind of regret selling my Mastotron. Had some really nice fuzz tones in it. Very versatile pedal.

The Mastotron is the fuzz I recommend to anyone getting into fuzz but doesn't know what flavor of fuzz they want. It's so versatile. I was really impressed with it actually. I sold mine though since I have like 6 fuzzes that collectively can do several times more together or separately than the Mastotron can alone.
But that is not a fair comparison for the Mastotron, since by itself it sounds pretty damn good, and again, versatile.
I tried it on bass and treble guitar, and liked it equally on both. It offers a fair amount of lowend definition, but cannot compare to a Tall Font Russian. It offers a lot of high end sizzle, but doesn't do the gated thing like what an Unpleasant Surprise does. If I didn't already own so many fuzzes, I would have kept it, for sure.
Still, and again, if anyone asks me what a good first fuzz pedal is, the Mastotron is topping my list of suggestions.
