Peavey Patriot, thoughts?

Post by backwardsvoyager »

Okay so I saw this on the bay and can just afford to buy, just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with these. It's an 80s USA single humbucker model which has been refinished (which looks awesome imo) and has new pots & wiring.
I've played a 90s USA predator which i really liked the feel of, I've heard good things about most USA peaveys but they seem to get picked up closer to the $200 mark, whereas this is more like $350 (although we don't often get nice things in Australia..).
I'm used to playing a prestige ibanez RGA and a maple board tele so this seems like a cool in-between sort of thing.

tl/dr: talk me into or out of buying this guitar

I'd normally go and play it myself but it's about 10 hours north so not gonna be able to try it first.
Im tempted though, might offer to buy it outright for 350 once i make sure the money is there. Unless someone can convince me to spend it on something useful
I wanted a T-60 for ages and could never find one over here, the used market is normally boring as hell

Kinda screams 80's to me. I do love my Patriot bass, though. Quality construction, decent sound.

I'll probably swap the pickup out eventually but it has a Dimarzio super 3 which I've heard isn't bad.

Just buy it and only play country on it.
You'll get so much tail. Trust me. I'm a doctor.

Arrived on Christmas eve! :yay:
Really great guitar, body and neck are super comfortable and it looks like its never been played.
The tuners could do with an upgrade but I was gonna put black ones on it anyway.
This is gonna make it much harder to stop myself buying a T-60.
