Re: Noise boards
I use a couple of 40106 oscillators, usually between 2 and 6 for different drones, one set always low, one set always high and one that varies a lot. First two sets go through a HM2, Tall Font Muff, Echobase Delay with a pre built into it, DD3 and a Swamp Thang trem clone. Then use a Tech21 Oxford and a Phase 90 clone on the other set of oscillators. I think I'll replace the Swamp Thang with a Trem Lune in the new year.
We've just started working on the next album so my set up will probably change a good bit over the next month or two. You can here the last one here:

Re: Noise boards
the most important thing to me is a mixer, so I can have two or three different signal chains going at once.
After swearing off guitar totally for noise a few years ago I've been using one again but mostly just hitting open strings. Starting to experiment a bit with sending that same guitar signal through two or three different chains with full wet delays at the start of it, panning into multiple amps and seeing where that's going. I'll post a photo next time I plug it all in.

Most definitely. Two is the maximum for me most of the time though, unless I'm running a third channel/source that doesn't need a lot of hands-on time (just pure feedback, say, or maybe a contact mic taped to my throat, etc). I find that two contact mic-ed objects/"instruments" is enough of a handful.
But yea, mixers. Totes essential.
I could never get along with using guitars for noise purposes, though. Something about the guitar that just never encouraged me to experiment with extended techniques etc. Much prefer saxophone if we're talking about using conventional instruments for noise purposes.

Re: Noise boards
yeah I really, really got away from it a long time, like really HATED it. But I've started using an aluminium guitar and I still don't really play it so much as open tune it and let it resonate.

Re: Noise boards
I mean I don't HATE it, really, I just don't find it as conducive to my "playing" (noising?) as much as other stuff. But then I am mostly doing harsh noise/etc stuff so yeah.

Re: Noise boards
I use a Behringer 1002b because I like the tactile feel of faders over knobs.

10 inputs. No extra features I don't need, and its about the size of a DL-4, so it fits on my board.
Plus, it can be battery powered in case you don't want to bring along the power supply.

Re: Noise boards
Oooooooo sliders. I've always had the 802 in my mind as the cheap mixer to buy for noise purposes, but that looks more appealing.
But it's also $40 more. Grrr.

All you need is:
AB-Synth 5k, Randy's Revenge, an analog delay, MF-104M in my case.

This is the one I meant. A 4 channel would be plent just for signal paths, but an 8 channel has more room for feedback loops

Re: Noise boards
That's the exact mixer that I have, and I dig it.
