MASF
hey guys and gals,
i just wanted to share my experience with MASF stuff. people seem to be pretty aware of the Possessed but I've had a great experence with both the Lavender Head and Paranoid.
*FYI, the knobs on the Paranoid are after market, added by me. they're Rogan RB67s, like ones on the later model Buchla 200 electric music boxes.

Re: MASF
alright, i should just say that i have never endeavored to describe anything that would fall into the realm of "something people would describe on TGP for 20 pages to determine the exact hz of roll off of a tone knob." i'm gonna try!
lavender head- really high gain, muffish. tone control rolls off bass past noon, and seems to add it past ten going counter-clock wise. probably just a hi-pass filter. changes in gain are noticeable from min to about noon. lots of output on tap.
paranoid, same deal with output, however the input gain (pig) seems to be more variable insofar as sound goes than the lavender head's gain knob. three way switch is neat. top, low mid (i guess?) heavy fuzz, not unlike a greg ginn, solid state amp tone. the bottom is a less gain (volume drop in lower two positions, can be made up for in output), that allows for open chords and what not. middle section didn't really seem to work as advertised, supposed to sound like sabbath, maybe it needs a hot amp
it just sounded like a dirtyish boost to me.
i love them, they work great a a team too! i think i'm going to hang onto them for a while, though they are still in production; prymaxe sells them. also, there is a japanese site that sells all that any more, a power sag, scms, and epilepsy . you will however, need to be someone who can read japanese, or have the services of one. however

That Lavender Head sounds really great. I visited the site and could see "BORIS", "Eddie Hazel", "Maggot Brain" and "BRITISH PSYCHE ROCK" among the Kanji.
I'm going to be in Japan next month and will have to keep my eyes peeled for MASF stuff.

Hey, Horsey, if you see a Roland CA-35, CA-40 or CB-40 while you're there, would you grab one for me, please?HorseyBoy wrote:That Lavender Head sounds really great. I visited the site and could see "BORIS", "Eddie Hazel", "Maggot Brain" and "BRITISH PSYCHE ROCK" among the Kanji.

Re: MASF
I was joking.
Those're amps. Would cost a fortune to ship.
They're pretty rare outside of Japan. They've got a built-in Boss Spectrum circuit.
Have fun in Japan. I'm jealous.
(I do want a Guyatone FS-6 Sustainer though.)
