LFO in a box??

Post by hollowhero »

I'm looking for a pedal that lets me pick an lfo waveform, set the waveform's rate and depth, and then use that lfo to modulate a second pedal's parameters via expression in (or cv in). Does anybody make this? :?: In case I'm not being clear, I'm thinking of something like the Mission Expressionator but without needing to use an expression pedal (i.e. the waveform runs automatically).

Thanks in advance!

That would certainly do the trick, but I'm not sure I would ever be able to use all of its features. Would the moog ring mod (or any of the moogerfoogers) suit my purposes?

Ring Mod or Phaser both have LFO outs, they could work for some of what you're talking about. Attenuators (like in the CP-251) would help, though.

Edit: that Broadcast looks pretty sweet!

^^^ Good call on that.

Of those two, I'd get the ring mod. It has square wave and sine wave and hi speed and low speed oscillation. Plus it sounds great! And at lower speeds it makes a killer killer tremolo. (The phaser's really great too, but the LFO only does sine waves.)

It's the most slept-on, bad-ass trem around town in my opinion. Plus metallic-ass ring mod toooooaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnzzzzzzzz.

Thanks for the input guys! I was originally looking for something like the Copilot Broadcast, but I'm thinking I should just cough up some extra cash and get something that works as an actual effect too. Moog Ring Mod vs. Goatkeeper...decisions, decisions...

When I had a Moog ring mod I pretty much only used it for tremolo. Well, that and making R2-D2 noises.

I think Fairfield Circuitry are working on something like that... but not sure.

Read there (in the news section):
http://fairfieldcircuitry.tumblr.com/

This here collage demonstrates a section of a new project we’re working on. You’re looking at a pseudo-random voltage source generated by a small microcontroller and a filter. Simple and efficient. Beautiful really.

It could be used as a modulation source for many things (Randy’s Revenge for instance) but we have special plans for this one, special secret plans.

Special secret plan. :idk:

The Moog is very cool, with a lot of different sounds in there. There's only 2 drawbacks to Moog pedals. They do colour your sound even when not engaged, I put them in a TB feedback looper for this because that's a whole nother level of awesome. That and once you're hooked on Moog you kinda want all of them.

The Goatse is just about as good as it gets for tremolo. Plus it's my favourite pedal for making drones.

Tough decision, if you can swing it, get both.

Goatkeeper lets you "Record" your waveforms. I don't know anything more flexible. It has Tap Tempo and can Sync to a Click (pro tip: iPhone korg monotribe Sync App.).
And you can sequence your lfo in divisions.

Moog ringmod is Super. Syncing the lfo is a pain in the ass...
