Just thought I'd share... BECAUSE I'VE WAITED FIVE YEARS FOR THIS
Any of the other UK ILFers going to one of their dates?
Anyone seen them before and got any advice for the show. I've seen APTBS live twice now so I'd say I'm fairly accustomed to loud bands, but from what people have said, this might be something else.
And you guys should totally get Shields to admit that he hasn't actually started working on a new record. Because he hasn't. We all know it. He knows it. It's never coming out.
I saw them back in 2008. I'm a huge fan and it didn't disappoint one bit. There are some parts that are prerecorded, but I didn't feel that it detracted from the show at all.
The venue passed out earplugs at the door, which tells you how loud it's going to be. Don't count on this, though. Bring your own.If you're tempted to remove your earplugs to hear what it sounds like, just be aware that it won't really sound like anything other than static. I don't know if they still do this, but the lights were really bright - so much so that I had to shield my eyes at points.
Also, be prepared for the extended noise section during "You Made Me Realise." It was probably 20 or so minutes long during the show I saw, but I've heard it can run for 30, even 45 minutes. It's fucking amazing and I'm incredibly jealous of you, you bastard.
Yeah '08 show was probably the best night of my life... If by Pre-Recorded you mean they use samples like on the LP then yes... The lights were amazing and it was loud but I stood about 2/3 of the way back right the middle and didn't wear plugs...
i also saw them in 08. my ears rang for a week afterwards, but it was OK because i accepted the risk so i could get the full experience. i was SO HAPPY.

I'm seeing them on the second night in London. I don't know if they'll be handing out earplugs this time, but I may go and buy some just in case. I've been deafened by "quieter" bands, and I'll be back in work that week too...
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.
