I turned 'em both on and listened to the feedback. Hit one note. Dog ran away.

This pedal can actually be fucking terrifying. It ranges from very little tube grit (like a boost) to "what the fuck is going on?"

Got mine. I had about 10 minutes with it...I think I am really going to dig it. Enough different flavors of OD and Distortion to really make it a keeper I think.

Finally got some time to site down with this thing. I'm really digging it in general, but there is one thing that's kinda weird about it. If I hit the E string (D actually) too hard I get this big boomy sound happening. It almost sounds like the sound drops out for a second, right when I hit the string. This only happens on the bridge pick up (humbucker). It's less noticeable on the silicon setting than the others. I should also note that when I say I hit the string "too hard" it is not really all that hard. I've never noticed this sort of thing happen with any other dirt pedals, but I've never had a Rat type pedal before either, so I'm not sure if this is normal or what. Anyone else notice this?

Iron Pig is my first RAT as well, super awesome, tons of variety. I haven't noticed that issue you're talking about tho, I'll listen for it closely next time. Is the signal drop out really obvious?

I've gotten similar sounds to what you're describing.... the signal is being compressed. A LOT.
Depending on which clipping option, it will drastically alter the attack of that first note... and it varies GREATLY on your PU's, other pedals, etc...

What is your setup?

My guitar is a Schecter Tempest Classic. The pickup that causes the sound is a Seymour Duncan SH-11. I play into Sunn solid state amps, but the sound also happened when I plugged directly into my Zoom H4N recorder. No other pedals were on when I got the "boom," and it actually seemed to go away when I used the another distortion (Boss DS-1) in front of the Pig. It was the most noticeable on the LED settings and the 308 setting.

It's pretty obvious. It kinda sounds like someone is throwing a bass drop over my E-string. It's not bad if I'm playing some simple riffs, but if I'm doing some faster picking or palm muting it can really muddy things up.
