See, though, you can sell your guitar for $1k+ if there's an emergency, whereas your fiancee could never sell her fingernails.

Your fiance is a conservative purse buyer. I regularly draw up offer sheets for purses between $350-$1000. I have friends who really can't afford it that have bought some $900 Michael Kors bullshit.

My partner is a graphic designer and I imagine she eventually wants a Wacom Cintiq (~$2200 I think). Which is way more than the best amp I'd ever want (and I think the Egnater I just got is all I'd want for a long time.)

SHE LOVES MICHAEL KORS. But she seems to like the $200-300 ones, luckily. I know she'd LOVE a Chanel, but she said she'd never even think about owning one of those

my ex-gf and i shared a whole bunch of keyboards and pedals and stuff and when we split i left her with a bunch of it... i think my old DMM was in there.

my gf now could care less what i get and usually has no idea anyways since i leave all my gear at my shop/rehearsal space. as long as i make some bloop bloop sounds for her every once in awhile she's super psyched, regardless.

when me and my girl got together
i was in pretty bad shape
$150+ a day on one evil drug
and $50-infinity on another
we met a bunch of years ago
my gf at the time was invited to her wedding so i was there
we are both divorced
been through hell
and need a person telling us how to live our lives
as much as we need another nasty habit
anyway when finally became bf/gf
was when i was kicking heroin
and a friend of mine locked me in
another friends apartment for a week
and she came to watch maury povich with me
long story short
shes seen the worst of me
and fell in love with it???????????
2yrs later when i see somethin on here
"fuck i want that!!"
she says somethin to the effect of
"how much is it?
ive seen you shoot that in your arm in a couple hours.
why isnt it here aleady?"
i think she fully gets the swapping addictions thing
and how hard i was struggling
and now being ultra focused on music
its become a lot easier
but im still fillin a void
and her mom now thinks im gonna be
the next yngwepagehalen
and prymaxes me at gift time

Wife doesn't spend any money. That's good. Wife sees me spend too much on gear. That gets interesting sometimes.

I know dudes who lie to their wives about buying shit. That is a dangerous path, one I would never go down.

I show the wife all my new fuzz pedals. I play her the B:Assmaster and then some Katanasound, she can't tell the difference WTF!

She bought me a Noise Box one year. Didn't get mad when I sold it awhile later. Bought a second one, and she didn't look at me cross-eyed, so that's a good sign.

My Alabama-common-law wifey has some sick fuckin' gear of her own. Let's see, all our guitars were hers first. She recently got a Farfisa. All the amps are hers, except for the Pipe Amp. Since we've been shacked up, she's seen me buy oodles and oodles of shit, and not minded in the least. As long as I was able to handle what needed handlin', moneywise, she's been 100% supportive. She's gotten me a Wolf Computer and a few other pedals. This Christmas, I'll be getting a Phantom Octave from her. I fell in it, dudes. DEEP in it

That's fucking awesome dude.

There have been a few times where I've just not told my fiance about the pedals that have been coming and going because she doesn't quite get it. I was at first afraid to tell her about my plan to hawk 3/4 guitars and some other gear to fund the aluminum guitar, so I went a day without saying anything. But I literally shook the entire day the next day until I told her. She said she was more-so upset that I didn't tell her about the plan to sell etc rather than just be open about it. She said it was a lot of fucking money (which I agree) but that she saw how I was taking measures to be responsible. She's still kind of being weird about it though.

dude, Skully-it's probably because Christmas is coming and she feels like you're going to great lengths to get something expensive for yourself. And maybe she thinks that she'll be left out, or be shortchanged/come in second to gear. Open dem communication lines, talk openly and honestly about it. Find out how she's feeling. And ALWAYS be up front about that kinda thing in the future. Totally not Dr. Phil-ing you, or tryna preach.

Yeah. I totally feel like shit about it and I told her I felt like shit for not telling her. I'm not usually that type of person, and I was literally shaking all day.

I bought her Christmas gifts about 2 weeks ago, and additionally I got some more stuff for her this past Thursday. I hadn't normally spent a lot of time thinking of things to get her before I just pull the trigger on some jewelry or something, but this time was different. I got home from work and spent a good 4 hours on Etsy picking out things that I knew meant something to her and that she would enjoy both on a tangible and an emotional level as well, which I was kind of proud of. I felt like it wasn't much though, we had set $50 limits on each other and I'd spent $70 to only get 2 christmas ornaments, a kit filled with different spice rubs for meats and other poultry since she loves to cook, a few Baltimore letterpress prints, a bar of coal soap as a gag gift, and I think thats it. But I also ended up getting her a few cook books, one was Mexican Food (we both LOVE Mexican food and she didn't have one yet) as well as a healthy eating book because she always says she wants us to eat more healthy, as well as another ornament (Hello Kitty, her favorite) But after the guitar I still don't feel like it's enough. I'm probably going to get her a charm for her Pandora bracelet because I haven't gotten her one in ages and I know she's been wanting one.

She'd told me that she didn't want to know how much the guitar went for because it was so much, but then at auction's end asked how much it went for. She wasn't mad, she just said it was a lot of money. She's just been a little reserved the past few days. I kind of feel like poop a little bit cause we're SO open with our communication.

TL;DR: I totally understand that 100% and I feel like she might feel that way which makes me feel like shit, and I don't want to NOT tell her about something major like that
