fuzz effect

Post by Casavettes »

so i record through one of those line 6 toneports, which kinda blows mind you
but there's an effect on the program it comes with called bronze master.
always really liked the sound but was wondering if anyone could help point me in the direction of a pedal that can emulate this sound. i'm assuming some sort of octave fuzz.

If memory serves, that's their take on a Brassmaster. Check the Malekko B:Assmaster, or... crap. There's plenty of others, I just can't remember 'em right now. I know Black Cat makes one. And a Polish builder, Bogdan, maybe?
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

The Devi Ever Vintage Fuzz Master is close to the Brass Master sound but gainier and a little more scrambled-sounding.

Yep - I love me some VFM. It doesn't have the harmonic switches of the Brassmaster, though, or the clean blend (even though I leave mine off most of the time).

Yeah, the Malekko and the Black Cat bass octave fuzz are the two that I know of. I know Bogdan made one, but I don't think he still does and I don't think he made too many.

Brassmaster type fuzzes = Best. Things. EVER. :joy: The ones I know are as follows:

Malekko B:Assmaster
Iron Ether Oxide
Montgomery Appliances Fuzz Mountain
Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz
Bogdan Polemaster

I wish I would have held onto the Fuzz Mountain, but maybe some day I'll get another...! The Malekko silicon is still my favoUrite, but all are great. Well I never used the Bogdan, but he's a neat guy and I wouldn't mind grabbing one of those eventually.

Yep, the silicon Malekko B:Assmaster is tops for me as well. I'll add the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge to the list too.
