Challenge: Build me a rig based off my idols.

Post by Radiohead625 »

Ok are you up to the challenge. I've been rethinking my rig and I wanted to get some help. I want to create a rig based off my top 5 idols. Here's the rules: 1 guitar, 1 amp, and the least amount of pedals to get me set for a while. I don't wanna get into my current setup(it's pretty barebones) and I won't give you a price point. Cheap, midrange, and expensive will be accepted. Let's get creative.
Here's the list:
1.) Thom, Jonny, and Ed from Radiohead
2.) Jamie Hince from the Kills
3.) Peter Hayes from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
4.) Russell Marsden from Band of Skulls
5.) Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys
:joy: :omg: :!!!: :thumb:

Thank you sir... Basically a lot of fuzz lol. Interesting on the 440 though :thumb: Those Hofners are a bitch to find... Might just go Jazzmaster.

I'd probably need a few delays and reverb pedals as well right?

Yeah, the Höfners're a bitch to find, but they're way more awesome than any Jazzmaster.

Couldn't decide on which delays for you and I generally dislike reverb. So, the only one I'd recommend'd be a Fender tank.

Delay: DMB Lunar Echo - my default answer to all non-tap tempo digital delay questions. Lots o' options for degrees of fidelity (or lack thereof) and a sweet momentary oscillation switch, and an fx loop to boot. And it just sounds soooooooooo right.

'verb: Red Panda Context - really cool digital verb made by ILFers Curt & Eti. There's a nice demo of it by JustNick up on YouTube. I'll have to search for that.

Also: Earthquaker Devices Rainbow Machine for bringin' the awesome cascading weirdness. Plenty of good fun to be had there.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Ooo.. Haven't heard of the DMB or red panda. I'll check them out. I was thinking of grabbing the TC electronics alter ego because of the DMM and echorec setting. Or maybe El Capistan because I love the sound of tape.

The El Cap is definitely worth a look. It covers a lot of ground. I'm not very well versed on all the bands you posted so I won't make any more recommendations, lol.

P-bass or J-bass of some sort. I don't care what brand.
Ampeg SVT rig.
Rat or Rat clone.

The rest is up to you.
