Re: Verellen and Jet City
Woah, that looks dirt simple to do. No way is that it!

It's really the only thing I could find that looked like it was a mod believe it or not! I could be totally wrong, but it looked like the only thing that was messed with. I guess the rest of the money goes into the new faceplate and return shipping? Either way, it makes the head so pedal friendly

Re: Verellen and Jet City
I'd like to rip a load of the gain out of my modified Jet City. No one seems to want to buy it, so I may as well have a tinker myself to see if I can better fit it to what I want.

Yeah dude, wouldn't hurt at all. It really doesn't seem like it would be difficult to do. And the PCB's are fabricated so well, nice and easy to work on

Re: Verellen and Jet City
I kinda want to try and do what Hovercraft is doing to his Jet City amps, but it's all...

Yeah I'm not so sure why he's so protective of it. I mean, yeah, you've got ahold of a handy mod to an amp, but its not like it's top secret classified info- you're changing/modding the specs of the preamp, adding a depth switch, as well as retolexing, you know?

Re: Verellen and Jet City
To be honest, and I know this has been discussed a dozen times before, but the more you try to hide what you have the more people will try to uncover it. If you use goop DIY'ers will go to extra lengths to unearth the goodies inside. And if you goop a pedal that is just a clone with some tweaks...well, you've got some balls. But if you just leave it out in the open, it's saying that you have nothing to hide, nothing to fear and nothing to be ashamed of. I buy that. Dr. Scientist, Wampler, ss/bs, EQD, Subdecay, these guys have proven their worth through hard work and trust, not by hiding their secrets from the world like goblins.
Also, the Hovercraft builder is modding amps that aren't his designs. Isn't it kind of hypocritical to deny the means to understand a mod when you're modifying other peoples amps yourself? I don't want to sound critical to the point of hate—I think Hovercraft are doing something awesome—but it seems a little extreme to be so protective. I'll ask if Nick @ Dunwich will help me out on day. I'm sure he'll have a few ideas when he has spare time.

Yeah, I totally agree with that too. It seems a little silly to be so protective of something that isn't even fully yours!
on a side note, I just sent Ben a picture of the head and the cab, and asked for a quote for either a new faceplate or a new headshell, gonna see what he says

Just passed the bedroom test. Told my mother to go in her room (next to mine). Set the MV to 2 and the gain to 1, and she said she could hear it but that it was quiet enough to go to sleep and not be disturbed. So I'm totally not worried about neighbors when me and my fiance move in next month!

Waaaaaay too expensive dude. Like $300 for a shell, or $90 for a faceplate. That's almost as much as I bought it for

Re: Verellen and Jet City
I had tried staining the original one ebony, but Ben sealed it really well and I didn't feel like fucking up the woodburnt 'V' on the face of it-
I'd like to get an ebony one, but then the V would be gone
I've contemplated building a new shell though
