Some random unfinished stuff

Post by mathias »

Found these in my closet while looking for pieces of my noise rig (brought that into work, which annoyed quite a few people,)

I've got a few more of the 1590a's with no holes drilled, and think I was planning to make them all into SHO's or single knob fuzzes. I was getting my measurements on the Gorton mill down to be able to drill out 1590a's consistently every time, and these were the first two with poorly-milled holes.. not that you'd notice that they're off a tiny amount and I just filed the holes until everything fit. Gotta decided if I want to finish building them or not.

Got this at Walgreens. it's actually pretty cool for only $6.99, and they had a 5-key piano and a drum machine from the same toy line. Plays a backing track when you push the mouth piece and the three buttons on top are mapped to notes that are in the backing track's key, sorta. My coworker had asked about circuit bending a toy for a niece or nephew or something, and this is looking like a good candidate for that. Gonna do a voltage starve, mod the battery cavity to fit a 9V instead of AA's, add a buffered line out, and then probe for any cool glitchiness in the circuit. Probably will add some photo eyes too.

I love kids toys for circuit bending because the plastic is like 1/4" thick, making it easy to add switches, knobs, etc. and they tend to do well with voltage starves since they're designed to run off batteries.
