Yeah, that's what got my gears grinding. Though I think for now I'd be looking at a way to just configure the pickups, and not necessarily have multiple outputs. I don't have the wherewithal for anything like Densely does... I'm like 90% happy with the dirt tone I can get out of my rig, but as I like the sludginess of the neck PU, the high strings get kinda lost in the mix if I'm not 110% anal about my playing style. Thus, I was wonderin' about one output with the aforementioned PU split.....these are rad guitars though. I should mention that that extended-scale Mockingbird (?) that Gentry Densely plays is fucking gorgeous....

I'm sure there's an option out there like this, but does anyone know of a pickup setup, guitar, or DIY thing where I could have two humbuckers, but split them so that I can get the LOW strings of the neck, and the HIGH strings of the bridge? Make sense? thanks doods
If the Humbuckers have adjustable pole pieces you can just remove the screws under the strings that you don't want picked up. I would try removing the bottom two on the neck and the top two on the bridge and leave both in on the middle strings.
The best part about it is nothing is permanent and you can do it all for free without even taking the guitar apart or the strings off.

I just tried taking out the pole pieces on my Jaguar's bridge pickup and really didn't notice a whole lot of change- in fact the GBE strings were still being picked up even though the pole pieces of the humbucker weren't there.
Hmmm. I like these last two responses. @Skullservant: your high strings were getting picked up even when just on the bridge setting? There must be some explanation. Did it seem to pick them up normally, or was it muted or the volume lessened at all?
I basically just want to lessen the sludge on the high strings but keep the sludge on the low strings.....or go in those two directions anyways.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Because the 3 other metal pins are still connected (just slightly) to that metal cover- and could be transferring or diffusing some of their pull across the entire pickup
