Lunar vs 4096 vs MLJR vs Monty ------> video available now
Yea kids, it's that time of year again when you gas-ing for echo box. I want that thick and clear sounding delay, not smeared on pick attack/repeats. So despite the price differences, and delay time.. which would you choose and do explain!

Not smeared? I'd say MMjr based on your options.

Re: Lunar echo vs 4096 vs MLJR
I was pretty much set with the mljr, it's like a workhorse delay with it's tap switch and division. After checking out few other pedal demos, I'm a bit concerned that it'll be boring.
Call me shallow I don't care (this isn't tgp with pretentious grumpy old lawyers anyway) but that 4096 main appeal are mostly on it's look.. and the instant infinity switch, sound is great but not jaw-dropping great.. and shitty 400ms. But then I realized that I rarely need longer delay time anyway. Oh and the fucking ''asshole-ish-hey-i'm-fucking-pretty-you-know-you-want-me-anyway'' price! I bet it'd sellout like candy if it's under $275.. or maybe pizza
Lunar on the other hand is feature-packed, minus the tap.. but with really great sounding delay sound & crazy modulation plus switches to change this and that. Somewhat useful oscillation/take off switch (at least that's what I heard on youtube), not like other's which mostly are just gimmicks and can't be used longer than 2 seconds without hating yourself pressing it .

I'm on the fence for a new delay, too. I loved the Timeline but I just don't need all of that......the 4096 has been calling to me.

I really loved the voicing on the Lunar Echo when I played it. Everything just sat so nicely in the mix... not too bright, not too dark... just right...
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Demos didn't convince me on option 1. I prefer the Lunar Echo's sound. Add in the extra features, FX loop, take off switch and the price difference and it all spells GET A LUNAR ECHO to me.

I sold my timeline recently, a little cold sounding and so much redundant features and grave-digging on sub menus could distract you from actually playing music. Presets is really a great feature tho. I think the timeline is something that you gotta try and experience it yourself for certain time and get over with to have a peace of gas-ed mind. But I almost 100% sure that you'll flip it in few months down the road for warmer sound.
Bought the mf-104m afterward.. kept it for few weeks, and hated it! While it was the fattest sounding analog delay, it was darker than i expected (the short mode is a little brighter, but still didn't like it that much), and really hated the lfo/mod for being gimmicky (for guitar anyway) and too sensitive that I need to keep the depth under 20% for being useful musically. I bet it's really great for synths although I didn't have chance to try it with my moog lp. It could be really good for ambient/background/BURIED modulated delay sound.
Then I moved to dmmtt, and cursed the box within 5 minutes. Can't stand the white noise on the repeats and inconsistent attack level.. Hated the cheapo fucking foot switches especially on the tap tempo side (i'd prefer the click-less button). But VERY lush & beautiful sounding modulation.. flipped it the next day. Please note that I used to own the big box dmm that I loved so much, not without some prob tho. Read:EHX
I just got myself the montavillian echo this past few days, this small box is really amazing.. hands down the best $160 (/w coupon) you could spend on delay pedal! From slap back to full-on echo, this box really has it's own character. Also great for ambient and maaaan engaging this pedal to the edge of the oscillation point with this pedal is a bliss!
Very useful tone control, a big plus! I'm curious how it'll hold up against the EA-4096 infinite mode. Still, while it's under 60 days.. it's not permanent.. yet! Could be flipped for something better. Wanna try other ones and keep total of 2 delay pedals eventually. My 2cents, over.

The Quantum Leap looks like a pretty good deal now instead of the MLJR, PGS is selling them for $50 off for I don't know how long.
