Enormous Door Pedals (Austin, TX)

Post by insubordination »

These look awesome. A couple seem kind of newish and interesting, and a couple seem based off "classic" stuff (Rat, etc.).
Sorta pricey but, eh, whatever.

The Iron Curtain Fuzz: “40 Years Of Fuzz, Evolved...”
. Hand matched NOS 70s transistors.
. Silicon/LED/hand selected NOS Germanium diode clipping.
. Silicon clipping gives a traditional fuzz tone. LED clipping gives a louder, more aggressive tone. Germanium clipping gives a tightly focused tone with a light octave effect at extreme settings.
. Mid knob alters the range of the Tone knobs' frequency response, giving you sonic options not found in other fuzz pedals. Standard or boosted Mids at the turn of a pot.
. Tone knob is a combination of filters with a variety of “sweet spots” that help to bloom notes and enhance your tone.
. Sustain knob sets the amount of gain on tap. Crank it for massive doom tone.
$250

The Burning Spirits Overdrive: “Grow Some Hair On Your Balls.“
. Designed around the legendary Burr Brown OPA series op amp for Hi-Fi operation and maximum reliability.
. Your choice of Symmetrical or NOS Hybrid Germanium Asymmetrical clipping.
. Symmetrical clipping for a more traditional sound. Asymmetrical clipping is more aggressive, enhancing attack and articulation on leads.
$250

The ATX Overdrive: “Your Amp, Your Playing... But Better.”
. Dynamic overdrive with tube-like saturation. The sound of a driven tube amp with touch-sensitive response to your playing.
. Hi-Fi Burr Brown OPA op amp.
. Switch between Hybrid Germanium and LED clipping for more interactive tone shaping.
$250

The PDX Distortion: “Pure American Grit.”
. Hand-selected rare NOS stock metal can LM308AH op amp.
. NOS 70S Germanium, raw LM308AH and Hybrid(Silicon/Bat41) clipping options.
$250

There are so many pedal builders here... Everyone I meet of CL says "Yeah I make stuff" me "Have you heard of ILF" them "No I check out TGP or HCFX"...

They look cool though...

I'm not complaining, the more pedals, the better ...

... they just look OK ...

... have stupid names ...

... certainly seem to have potential ...

... they're definitely pricey ...

I reserve judgement until they've been heard.

I think they look pretty, the bezels, the silkscreened position indicators.

I agree the names are kind of meh, the quotes provided by the builder after the names are even worse; "Grow some hair on your balls." I get it but it doesn't sell me, I think it would be better placed as a customer testimonial, that way you still get to market the hairy balls but get to distance yourself from actually saying it; "Dude, the toanz made my balls grow major hair, thanks Enormous Door!!" Would be how I'd sell it, lol.

Yeah, I like bezels like that and the finish on the enclosures look nice, but unless they sound amazing, I'll pass.
