Cat 1) Full Rig (Amp, Board, and Guitar)
Cat 2) Best Pedal Board (post count 250 and up)
Cat 3) Best Guitar
Cat 4) Best bASS
Cat 5) Best Newb Board? (250 post count and under

Here's other categories we've now discussed:

Cat 6) Best OMD (other musical device)
Cat 7) Best DIY build (would require external and gut shots)

How many categories should we cap it at? Have we even decided whose running this thing?

Wait, I guess I misunderstood this like three pages back. I thought you guys meant "best GUITAR board" and "best BASS board". But if you mean actual guitars and basses, are we talking best single instrument, or best collection of guitars/basses?

I would kinda rather have more board categories, but I'll defer to the majority here.

(Not that it matters, I don't have a chance in hell of winning any of these categories)

Single instruments would be my preference for the bass and guitar categories. You can throw the multiple instruments in either the rig category or add an 'My name is Excane and this is all my shit' category.

If newb boards were actual newbs rather than lurkers it'd make more sense as a category. If you want multiple board categories I'd rather it be done based on pedal count. Either way the voting could still be broken down like the last time so there's only 10 boards up at a time. No reason not to drag the voting out a bit.

Also, we're doing sound clips yeah?

See, I think single instrument categories will be kinda boring. I mean, the bass competition is basically going to be either Muddy's blue Ric or one of the Dingwalls that everyone seems to be getting in the TB thread. Knowing ILF, the guitar comp is going to be a shitload of Jazzmasters.

Yeah, the others are more about combinations and the creativity of the owners. Best single is more like - let me show you this thing I bought.

Maybe best guitar, bass, or amp collection?

Collection would be cool. I mean I feel like we have seen most everyone's collection already, but might still be more interesting than single instruments

With "normal" manufactureres everybody knows how it sounds. Here it is sepecial. Just a Mockup would be uncool IMHO.

I think soundcloud demo's to go with each pedal could be super cool, I'm down.

I think collection pics would get ridiculous, single instruments would be easier to maintain and gives everyone a chance to pick out their gem. If we did collection I'd need to do a whole thread just for excane.... I think its funner to make him choose just one to put up (don't get my wrong buddy i love ya but that collection is ridiculous). Plus I dont think it would be all jazzmasters and dingwalls. It may be alot of offsets but theres alot of other variety on here too. As far as basses I'm more likely to vote for something off the wall than i am a production Ric. But I will make a post during the day for everyone to talk about it, if people would rather do guitar / bass boards instead of instruments thats cool by me. And if we choose instruments we could then decide between collections or individuals. All though if we do collections i will ask that we keep it to how many you can fit in one pic.

Newb boards was done last year to encourage new members to participate, so they don't feel like theres no point in trying because the elder members will squash them with ease. I feel it helps build community here on the site, and we get to scope out all the newcomers and what their working with.

Im into the best bass/guitar category as in a single instrument. if we do collections it will become "who has spent the most $ on instruments" category. If its single instruments even I could win with a $400 bass that I have put some blood sweat and tears into. I know I would vote for something interesting/unusual over ANYTHING stock.
