this is the "Lets see your MELODICAS" thread right?
YEAH. YEAH, THAT IS RIGHT. LET'S GO.
Refinished that jank in hammered Rustoleum and shiny metallic paint simultaneously. For better tone.
I LOVE contact mic'd melodica. Through METULZ distortion it sounds like you're in the bowels of a ship that just ran into something and the bending steel is resonating throughout. Titanictoans for days. Pedalodica yields toans more brutal and dissonant than any pointy guitar ever could.

I've thought of getting one for ages. And some sort of glockenspiel/bell set. Having at that stuff with a contact mic, a polyphonic pitch shifter with decent tracking, and a stereo Leslie effect -- mmmm.

Mine was $20 on ebay Go for it dudes. It may look like a novelty, but hey, it's a wind instrument and you can do lots of fun things with those. Just don't record yourself playing white people covers of rap songs for Youtube. It ain't a ukulele

i bought the 27-key version which is the same register that Augustus Pablo used. i meant to do dub stuff with it, but wind up playing it more like a saxophone.

so i've been close to buying a melodica now for about 3 or 4 years probably... and i think i need to get one now because now i can post it in a thread.
Awwww maaaaaan... I used to have one, a weird one that I bought at a consignment shop back in the mid-90's. The singer from my band at the time wanted to do more than just sing, so she started playing keys, and I let her use the melodica as well.
Then the band broke up, and I realized a year later that I didn't know where my melodica was.
I inherited my melodica from my gf's grandfather, don't play it much but they are tons of fun. I'm too lazy to take a picture of it, but I did find an old photo with it in it. I don't own half the stuff in this photo anymore, but whatever.
